"Keep your chin up Dalton or you'll break your collarbone again!" I snapped with annoyance, pinching the bridge of my nose, and shaking my head. It had a been a few days since Adrian mentioned anything of my past regarding our previous conversation, to which I was savoring every moment of. I hated being picked apart to be analyzed under scrutinizing eyes. It was a violation of my privacy and just plain annoyed the hell out of me. Currently I was having Adrian observe the training feild to brush up on the combat skills he needed. Being treated like an omega in any pack will not get you the best training experience to say the least. A few younger warriors who recently began their offensive training were currently under pressure considering the need to impress their new alpha. Dissapointingly enough though, pointing out minor nuances or repeating important stances was now a common occurance within the past hour.

Group by group young wolves would be selected, as soon as they turned 13 years of age, to train during a certain period of the day, five days a week. It was like clock work, just as it should be. Maintaining my pack's abilities was essential. Even if we did have an advantage in numbers, other packs can and have joined allainces in an attempt to overthrow my pack. Our major advantage above all others in contrast was our stealth, and constant training of several advanced attack methods, both offensive and defensive. A combination of both styles was lethal and it had to be in order to be at the top of the food chain when ranking packs per country.

Considering such a thing, it would be easy to guess where my pack and I stand in this ranking, for good reason. "Adrain, do you think you're ready to start training now after observing the younger bunch here?" I questioned, while still keeping my eyes locked on the practicing pack members. "Yes." He replied firmly. I took a glance at him. His jaw was locked and his muscular back rigidly straight. Hands folded behind his back and feet shoulder width apart, gazing into the crowd with steel eyes. I smirked. He's ready for this position whether he realizes it or not. If he ment to impress the others he is certainly doing a good job of it, intimidation and power was starting to radiate off of him.

"Who will my first opponent be?" He asked, looking down at me with curiousity and interest. This would be fun. I chuckled before giving Adrain a devilish grin.

"Me."

He visibly paled, a look of disbelief gracing his handsome features. "But I'm only starting out! That's not fair!" He stated exasperatedly.

I laughed as I walked out into the training field, making the trainees stop and part ways, clearing a large circle for Adrain and I. "You're next enemy may not be fair, only with the garuntee to kill. Either way I need to see where you stand Adrain, don't worry! I'll go easy on ya!" I chuckled, watching with amusement as he trudged into the makeshift rink.

"Tap out if you need too darling. In any other fight I wouldn't stop until the opponent is knocked out or severly injured, but you're my only exception. If you step out of the ring we will start over. Got it?" I stated, taking off my leather jacket to reveal my black sports bra and workout shorts.

Adrain's eyes darkened, a possessive growl rumbling in his throat as he took off his own t-shirt, leaving him in only a red pair of basketball shorts. "No distractions sweetie. Your blood will be pumping once I'm done with you." I smirked, making him chuckle. "I already took note of that." He mused.

I then took an offensive stance, feet shoulder width apart. Before he could think of his first move I swiftly charged him, bluffing a right hook. Adrain put his arms up to block, but the breath was harshly knocked out of his lungs when my fist hit just below his ribcage. A direct hit to the diaphram. I paused to let my mate recover as he stumbled back to catch his breath. I felt my canines throbbing, the rush of a fight always caused it... the need to kill. But this was my mate, I knew even my own body wouldn't let me hurt him gravely.

Adrain growled before charging, aiming a punch to my jaw, to which I quickly ducked. His coloused grip caught my arm, twisting it back to redirect my position. I growled in response, moving with him to plant my other forearm at his throat, sweeping his legs out from under him with a hard blow to the side of the knee. He grunted, quickly regaining himself again. "Stop teasing darling. I know you can do better than that." I chuckled.

Adrains eyes grew even darker than before, his pupils contracting. His instincts were surfacing. I dodged another punch, letting my senses highten, emersing myself with the adrenaline rush.

Before I could blink my bicep was grabbed and my legs knocked out from under me. I gasped sharply, immediately scrambling to regain my footing and crouching low to the ground, my legs wide and one arm down for balance. Sharp gasps and murmers were heard from the crowd, making another growl force its way up my throat. I will not be bested in front of my own pack.

Adrain smirked as he advanced towards me. He just boosted his own ego and was gaining confidence. Now that was a major mistake.

I charged him again and dived for his legs, pulling them forward to curl with my body, causing my mate to fall to the ground with a heavy thud. Some members of the crowd gasped. Adrain coughed and growled lowly, the wind clearly knocked out of his lungs a second time. Before he could catch his breath again I moved from his legs, pinned his jaw back, and held my incisors over his jugular.

I let out a muffled growl, asserting my short victory. My canines were vicously throbbing. I could feel Adrain's pulse heavily beating under my teeth, tempting me to bite down, to taste the iron blood on my tongue of an imaginary enemy. I quickly removed my jaws from his throat, forcing myself out of the haze and back to my senses. I stood up to let my mate regain himself and gather his bruised pride. "I win." I smirked. He huffed, rising to his feet and brushing himself off. I then turned to face the crowd. "Next time don't get cocky! If you let your confidence rise too high you're bound to be foolish and loose your very life one way or another!" I spoke up, speaking to both Adrain and the crowd of young wolves.

"You said you'd go easy on me." Adrain rasped. I rasied my eyebrows and laughed softly. "I was darling." I replied, giving him an amused once over at his dirty and somewhat battered figure.

He scoffed. "Alright sure you were, now come on I want to get cleaned up." He chuckled, running his fingers through his messy dark chocolate locks.

I rolled my eyes, smiling and wrinkling my nose at the smell of sweat that now lingered in the air while everyone made their way back into the pack house. A breeze blew through the trees, carrying a bit of the nasty scent away from my nostrils, but not without bringing something with it. My nose lifted to the air, taking a long inhale to catch the faint unfamiliar scent.

As soon as my brain registered it, I was already frozen on the spot. My legs felt numb and everything clouded from my attention as I stared at the treeline just a few yards off past the training field. No... no, no, no, no, no!

It felt as though my blood had frozen in my viens, my heart squeezing and refusing to beat as fear flooded my system. Staring right back at me was the all too familiar pair of green, crazed eyes I know all too well... Eyes that belong to a man that should be six feet under.
