***NIALL'S POV***

"I'm not- I have a--"

The words kept running through my head. I'm not--what? I have a--what?

I slammed my fist into the wall, rage surging through me.

What wasn't she telling me?

I sat down on the edge of the bed and fisted my hair. How did things go from being so good to this in minutes?

The sound of a phone vibrating on wood caught my attention. I picked up my phone from its place on the night stand. I took a deep calming breath before I answered.

"Yeah, Zayn?"

"Is Caitlyn there?"

I stiffened. Is she cheating on me with Zayn? "No, but I'd gladly take a message for you," I spat out.

"You okay, mate?"

"I'm fine, Zayn! What did you call to tell Caitlyn? Because, like I said, I'd gladly take a message for you." I clenched my fist at my side. I could feel my nails biting into the skin of my palm but I didn't care.

"I was just calling to let her know that Kasey is safe. I found her before she left the building. She's sleeping right now."

My anger lessened. "Thanks, Zayn. I'll let her know."

"And, Niall?"

"Yeah?"

"Whatever it is you're upset about, I hope it works out. Yeah?"

"Yeah, Zayn. Thanks."

I hung up after that. So, obviously she's not sleeping with Zayn.

Maybe she has a boyfriend, a small voice in my head taunted. Maybe she's only dating you to get famous. It wouldn't be the first time it's happened.

I shook my head, dismissing the voice. Caitlyn wouldn't do that. She's not like that.

But the seed was planted. The roots already beginning to grow and spread. The thought was a weed in my brain. No matter how many times you try to pull it out, it always grows back. Again and again.

Until you pull it from the roots. The source of it all.

I dialed Caitlyn's number.

 "Yeah, babe?" she answered tentatively.

"Kasey is fine. Zayn found her. She's sleeping in his room," I informed her, my voice void of emotion.

"Really? Oh, thank God," she sighed the words.

"Are you coming back?" I asked, cursing myself internally for asking.

"Yeah, just give me a couple minutes..."

"And, Caitlyn?"

"Yeah..." The way she sounded so upset hurt a little, but I used it to fuel the flame.

"We need to talk," I said blankly.

"Okay.... See you."

"Bye." I hung up. I felt like shit for being such an ass, but that's what happens when you let your guard down. People will sneak in and tear you down without you even knowing. At least, not until its too late.

For a while, I debated slipping my key under the door so she could let herself in. A knock at the door told me I was too late.

I took a deep breath and opened the door. I stepped aside, letting Caitlyn walk in. I closed the door behind her and rested my head on the frame.
