The next morning came faster than Dean would have liked. The first rays of morning light burst through the trees outside Castiel’s window and danced across the room in a ballet of yellow and gold. Cas was laying comfortably in Dean’s arms, and his breath was low and gentle. Occasionally, he’d start to snore which made Dean grin. Whatever he did to deserve Cas must have been amazing, because never before in Dean’s life had he met some one so unconditionally loving, someone so good to him. His body filled with the warmth of his new found love, and he snuggled closer down into the sheets of the bed. Birds sang softly outside, and the gentle rustle of the wind in the leaves kept Dean from falling back into his peaceful slumber. Not that he really cared; now that Dean was awake, he could lay and admire Cas as long as he pleased, soaking in the moment and implanting it in his brain for a rainy day. He closed his eyes and sank his face into the dark of Castiel’s hair that he adored so much. It was like an ocean of sweet smelling grass, or a dark room in which to lay. It was Dean’s escape, and being around Cas gave him so much more of a high than any drug or drink he had ever taken before. The thought was a comforting one, and it filled him with a new found hope. Maybe Cas was the secret to escaping this harmful lifestyle he had fallen into so many years ago, when he was just a kid. Memories flashed back into his mind:
“Dean. You need to relax”. She had said as she handed him the joint. It smelt bitter and sweet and stung Dean’s nose. Sure, Dad had really lost his temper today, but Dean wasn’t stressed. He knew Dad was just punishing him because he was being bad. It was because Dad cared… He hesitated. “Come on. Take it.” She shoved it closer to his face until Dean caved under the pressure, taking it from her and taking a long, brave drag on the joint until his head spun. He coughed and handed it back to Meg with a grimace on his face. It made his throat sting, and his tongue felt heavy and sticky with the taste of the weed. “That’s my boy.” She praised, taking it and puffing on it for a moment. It wasn’t long before the effect swept him off his feet, swallowing up all his worries and taking him away to a happy, safe place that he would so rely on in the future.
“Dean?” Castiel’s croaky, sleepy voice had brought Dean back to the present moment. Shaking the memory off, he turned his head to smile down at Cas’ flushed face.
“Morning babe.” He soothed, cupping Castiel’s cheek was a gentle touch. The skin under his hand trembled at his touch as Cas shivered. He knew the effect he had on Cas, and always loved the reactions he could draw out of him with a simple touch.
“Morning.” Cas yawned, let his piercing blue eyes flutter closed again. He seemed just as at peace as Dean was, and the thought made his heart skip a beat. Cas truly enjoyed being here, with Dean, the complete wreck of a man. To say he felt undeserving of Cas would be an understatement. This amazing, bright, beautiful and loving Man he held in his arms was nothing short of a miracle for Dean. What had started off as an intrigued attraction had quickly spiralled into something much, much deeper. Without a thought, Dean placed his other hand on Castiel’s cheek and brought his flushed, smiling face up to his own and pressed their lips together in a tight, hot kiss. He could feel Castiel melt against him, urging his lips wider around Deans. Those striking blue windows of Castiel’s had opened again, staring intently at Dean as he worked his tongue into Castiel’s mouth. Somewhere in the deep pit of Dean’s stomach, a fire was lit, roaring with his new love for Cas. He let his tongue dance sweetly with Castiel’s before pulling back and staring right back into Cas’ eyes.
“Am I falling in love?” Dean asked, although he already knew the answer.
“I sure hope so.” Cas laughed, and Dean caught the sweet, heartfelt sound with his lips. The feeling of Castiel’s smile against him was mind blowing, and Dean released his grip of Cas’ face to wrap his arms around his hips. He held him tightly against his mouth, and let his eyes close. Finally, Cas pulled away and smiled into Dean’s eyes.
