The last bell had finally rung (or is it rang?) and I power-walked to my locker. If I didn't hurry to my locker, I would have to squeeze through all the groups of students standing in the middle of the hall, and I hated brushing up against their sweaty smoke-smelling skin.
I opened my locker, which had a picture of me, Brett, Stephanie, and Buddy all smiling up to the camera, another picture of me and my friend Emily, a small green magnetic mirror, a small magnetic basket for pens, one crappy locker shelf which would always fell, school books, and a whole bunch of scattered papers. I reached for my calculus book, and noticed a yellow sticky note laying in my locker. It had obviously been pushed through the little slits on the top of the locker, and was a bit crinkled. I read the note, and nodded to myself. One of the teachers or academic partners had put it in my locker to inform me that my mom had called the school to let me know that I would be going home with her instead of the Gomez's. I grabbed my book, shut my locker, and threw away the note.

I roamed about the parking lot until I saw my mom's lovely mud-encrusted silver honda. She beeped and waved at me, even though she knows I hate when she does that. She gestured me to 'come on' with her hand, so I walked over. She popped the trunk for me and I plopped my backpack down. I shut the trunk, and hopped into the passenger seat. "Hello, honey", Mother greeted me, "I hope your not feeling to tired today, becuase we are going to go to your grandparents house!" "Uh, okay," I responded, and smiled. Unlike most teens, I actually liked my grandparents, well, my mom's parents, for they were pretty cool. Everytime I went over they always made cookies for me. While eating the cookies we usually played some game (like 'Apples to Apples'), and then played some Mario Cart on their Wii. I'm pretty beast at Mario cart, so I usually get second or first. I always use Toad and one of the princesses because it reminds me of one of my all time favorite children stories: "The Princess and the Frog."
I was a little confused on why she chose a Tuesday to go over, because we never spent less than 5 days at my grandparents house, AND I had regular school days this whole week and next week. But, I didn't question it. I would much rather be eating cookies while playing Wii than learning about triple integrals. "So", I asked," when does the flight leave, and how long will we be staying? I hope we have atleast an hour to pack." "Oh", my mother siad looking surprised, "we're driving this time. We're leaving around six." DRIVING?! I had been so confused. She really must have been crazy. We never drove anywhere that was over an hour away, and now we were going to drive 5 1/2 hours to my grandparents house. "What!?, "I asked, "Driving?" I scoffed. "Since when do you drive anywhere?" She shot me a look and replied, " Well, I didn't feel like spending the money, and there was no flight until Friday, and I really miss my mother, and your uhh father wants to discuss some business with your grandfather." She sounded kinda undecisive and nervous. "Whatever", I said. I didn't mind driving at all, I would just listen to my MP3 player and enjoy the ride.
When we arrived at my house, I saw that my dad had come home from work early, probably because of this spontaneous trip. He used to have really wierd work hours, but then when he switched jobs he left every morning at 8:30 a.m. and got home at 8:00 p.m. My mom parked in the garage, which had tons of 'wierd junk' in it. My dad was always complaining about the messy garage with the 'wierd junk', or sometimes he called it 'funky junk.' He was worried about mice and other rodents hiding in all the old furniture, clothes, scrap, metal, and trash. I rushed into the house and gave my dad a big bear hug, before rushing up the stairs to go pack.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I went to my closet and took out my suitcase and travel backpack. They were a matching blue and purple set. I set the suitcase on the ground, unzipped it. and went off in search of finding clothes to pack.
"How long did you say we were staying for?!", I shouted, hoping my mom would hear me. I waited for a few seconds, and after hearing no reply, left my room and went to the staircase. "How long did you say we were staying for?!", I repeated. I waited another few seconds and was about to go down the stairs when my mom answered, "One week! Maybe two!" I was schocked. Two whole weeks! By now, I really thought she had gone mad. I was going to miss so much school, and it felt wonderful. I happily did a walk-shuffle thing back to my room, and went into my closet.
My closet is a good sized, so there is enough room for me to walk around a little in it. Most of my clothes are hanging up, but a few arescattered on the floor. I have a rack of shoes, one row of fancy shoes and another row of sneakers and casual flip-flops.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had been packing for around fifteen minutes. I shoved some T-shirts into my suitcase and went back to my closet. I stepped in, scanning for some jeans. The closet may look super organized, but its really not, so I always have trouble finding stuff. Finding the pair of jeans, I took a step and pulled the jeans of the hangar when something green caught my eye. I stopped for a sec, looking for the green flash I had just seen seconds before. i put the jeans down and crouched down, bobbing my head in such a fashion that made me look like a toucan (or some other bird). I stayed crouched for a minute, staring at the spot where the flash had been. Nothing. Thinking I had followed in my mother's footsteps and gone mad, I picked the jeans up off the floor and headed back to my room, when... Again. Out of the corner of my eye. Another tiny green flash. "MOM!!", I shouted as loud as I could, "Can you come here for a sec?" I was getting a little creeped out. "MOOOOOM!"
"Ugh, coming", my mom half muttered and yelled while coming up the stairs. She walked into my room, looking around probably thinking I had encountered another 'huge, ferocious' spider. "Yes sweetie?", she said in her sweetest mocking voice. I gave her my 'get real' glare. "Fine, what do you want?" "Okay", I started," so I was looking in my clos-" I stopped, when Mother rolled her eyes at me. "Sorry, sorry", she said. I knew she couldn't help it. "Okay", I continued on again, "I was looking for some jeans in my closet, and something green flashed. I thought it was my imagination at first, but then it flashed again. I know it's kinda silly, but it creeps me out a little." My mom snapped to attention, all of a sudden sooo interested in my story. "A green flash? Where exactly did you see this?" Okay, by now I was getting really really super creeped out. Why had my mom been freaking out so much? "Weell", I cautiously answered while walking into my closet (yay for multi-tasking!), "the flash came from about right here." I pointed to the spot where I had seen the flash. My mom followed closely behind me and when I showed her the spot, she frantically searched around through some of my mess. I watched as she ruffled things around until she finally stopped, putting out her arm carefully against the wall into some of my old magazines, books, and stuff. i fidgeted with my fingers. It was not like my mom to be so nervous, and... whatever she was right now. Maybe all of the stress had boiled up inside her so much, that it made her crazy.
I went off into crazy thoughts, 'Or what if she had been hiding some secret money for years and she was paranoid of someone finding it. Maybe she had gotten fired at work, and she didn't want to tell anyone and the guilt had made her all wierd. Or maybe some guy walked by her and gave her some wierd glare which made her be paranoid. Or maybe when she was-" My thoughts were interrupted by a small jerk from my mom's body. "Oh it was nothing", she calmly said in a creepily sweet way, "Just your dad's old phone." I tried to look at the phone, but my mom stood up and hurried out of my room, and downstairs before I could. "Got to go finish packing! We are leaving in 15 minutes, hurry up!" "Okay mom", I replied in a concerned sort of way. I was pretty sure mom's were supposed to be wierd.
