The Hit

We had been driving for around 3 1/2 hours now, and it was 9' o clock (my mom decided to leave an half an hour early).  I was in the back listening to my MP3 player, while my mom and dad chatted about 'who knows what'.  I was wearing a comfortable blue, green, purple tye-die T-shirt and pair of comfortable blue jeans.  I nodded my head to the beat and sang along quietly, so I wouldn't disrupt my parent's conversation.  I was about to take out my earphone and listen in, for they seemed to really be discussing things seriously, when one of my favorite songs came on.  So I went back to my MP3 and forgot about my parents as I drifted off to sleep .

BAM!  My face had been smooshed against the window of the car, and all I could see out the window was a close-up of some grass.  I heard my parents frantically trying to get out from the flipped car we were in.  "Jenna, dear, come on sweetie, get up', my parents hurriedly urged me. I was really groggy from my nap and dazed from the impact of what I now know was a car crash, so I did all the following things half-heartedly.

My parents had unbuckled and my dad had climbed into the back of the car, trying to unbuckle me too.  I put my hand to my face and felt a piece of glass protruding from my cheek.  I could feel and hear the warm blood dripping down my cheek, splattering onto the broken window and into the grass, as I moved my toungue around to see if the glass had gone all the way through my cheek.  My dad pulled me into a sort-of standup position, where I was half standing on the grass thorugh the window, and half standing of the side of the window.  My mom was already outside the car, looking untouched, as I realized my dad looked the same.  He climbed out through the sunroof of the car, and carefully dragged me out, as my mom quietly urged me on.  "Come on honey, just step through the roof, we'll be fine.  We'll be at grandma's house in no time."

Once I was out of the car I finally started to get a grip on my mind.  I shook my head and looked around me.  There was my mom's wonderful mud-encrusted white suburban flipped on its side.  I strained a little to look to see why we had tipped.  On the underside of the car (which was now in the air) I saw a blue van, smashed into our car.  I strained even more to get a closer look, but I could see no driver.  "Aah!', I burst out due to a sharp pain in my face.  I looked at my parents who were now hushing me, and saw that my dad had a bloody piece of glass in his hand.  My hand went to my cheek where I had earlier felt a piece of glass.  I rubbed my hand around my cheek (which hurt) only to find no glass, and to have a bloodied hand.  "..What happened?", I asked my parents.  I could feel the adrenaline of fear rising up in me, and I felt like I wouldn't be able to anything but hyperventilate soon.

The pulled me off (without a warning AND without answering me) as they broke into a runnish jog, and some of my urge to hyperventilate went away as I struggled to not slow my parents down to much.  I looked up at both of them as we ran.  I could tell something serious happened, even though they tried to look as calm as possible.  I studied my dad's face.  I saw the stubble on his chin, traveling up to his ear before it was cut off by his almost-shaggy brown hair.  I studied his brown eyes, looking into them, hoping he would look back.  He didn't, he was busy trying to catch his breath and whisper to my mom.  I stressed at trying to hear the words coming out of his mouth, but couldn't.  After running for a good 5 minutes, I saw him nod at my mom, and we stopped running.  I breathed heavily, trying to catch my breath.

"I suppose that could do", my mom uttered to my dad.  She turned to me, "Okay sweetie, just relax and sit down right here for a second."  I finished catching my breath as I sat down.  I stared at my mom, and I could feel my laser vision piercing right through her, wondering what the heck had just happened.

I jumped a little, after feeling a prick in my arm.   I was about to say something to my mom, but then I realized how tired I was, and how comfortable the grass was, and how it was just the right temperature for me to fall asleep.  I layed down, onto the damp grass, and fell asleep.
