"This is going to be so totally super-ly fun!" I heard my little sister Ruby squeal. Her "partner" Weiss let out an annoyed sigh, "I suppose a quick trip to Blitz Ice Cream wouldn't take up too much time. Plus, it's a regular hang out location for-" she stops herself quickly before she can continue her sentence. Ruby smirks and finishes her sentence for her "--Nep-tyuuune?" she says in a sing-song voice. Weiss' pale white face heats up with a light pink. "N-No! Ugh!" Everything tunes out when I feel a familiar hand on my shoulder. My heart almost stops and I try to stop blushing.
"Are you okay, Yang? You're looking kind of pink. Do you have a fever?" says Blake. Her cool voice seriously tugs at my chest. "H-huh? Oh! Y-yeah! I'm fine! Just---hungry, I guess!" I lie. I turn around and face Blake, hopefully my red cheeks have faded away. "I--I'll buy your ice cream, Blake!" I blurt out. My eyes go wide and I wish I could take back my words. Both Ruby and Weiss look puzzled at me. Blake cracks a smirk at me and tilts her head. "Um, okay. Thanks."
I wait until they all stop looking at me to release my breath. Stupid, Yang! I scold myself. What the heck?! What was that?!
"Yang?" calls Ruby from up ahead. Shoot, so lost in thought I got left behind. "Are you coming or not?"
"Comin'!" I call back, forcing a smile. Jeez, if Blake suspects anything now I'm as good as doomed. I run up, and try to catch up with the team.
"So what flavored do you all prefer?" asks Weiss. "I, personally, prefer plain Vanilla with strawberry icing." Ruby stifles a giggle. "-and a cherry on top?" she says in between giggles. Weiss tugs at her cape, causing Ruby to fall backwards onto her butt.
"Ow, Weiss what was that for? I was only kidding!" Blake has to keep from laughing too. Has Blake ever laughed with us before? Her smile is seriously pretty though, and her eyes catch the evening light, making them absolutely...stunning. Blake turns around to notice me staring at her. "Um, Yang?"W-wha...?
"Blake, I---" I blurt again. "I----" My stuttering prompts the team to stare at me. "Yang?" Weiss whispers. "What are you trying to say?"
I bite my lip. Now! Now! "I---!" Blake stares at me. Her deep gold eyes reflects the early sunset. Stunning golden eyes, shadow black hair, and the cool voice and immense power and courage. This is what makes up Blake Belladonna... "I was wondering if you'd want to go to a movie with me on Friday!"
Dead. Silence.
It goes on for several minutes. Blake stares at me wide-eyed, and Ruby and Weiss exchange looks.
"This Friday?" Blake finally says. Her tone is no good, she must be busy. "As in, in 2 days, Friday?"
"That's the one," I say with a nervous smile. "I mean-if your busy you don't have to go. It's just been some time since we hung out since the whole Faunus incident thing and I--""Sure."
What?!
"What?" I stammer. "R-really?!" Blake smiles. "Sure. I mean, what kind of friend am I if I wouldn't want to?"
Ouch. Seriously. Friend zoned.
"Right," I reply, hoping I hid my disappointment well enough. Friends. All we'll ever be. Friends.
Ruby groans. "Can we pleeaseee get some ice cream now??" Weiss is about to say something but her stomach growling cuts her off. "Whoa, Weiss! I didn't think you could make sounds like that!" Ruby says in awe. Weiss angrily grows red but refrains from hitting Ruby. "Fine! Let's hurry and get to Blitz before Ruby dies of hunger!"
"Me?" Ruby whines. "You're the one with the monster sized stomach growling!"
"What-EVER Ruby!" Weiss says defiantly. "Let's just go!"
"Yeah," Blake says, looking up. "Let's go."
