What the hell what that monkey doing with his arms around Blake's waist?!
I could feel my legs moving, my hands were clenched so hard my nails were breaking my skin. My throat hurt. I threw my bag over my shoulder and stormed out the classroom. Let them do what they will. I don't care. I don't care!
I do care...
There's a little place off campus that's covered in plushy-lush green grass, and shaded by a huge weeping willow. It's littered with flowers like poppies and posies, but there's one flower that I had been taking care of for a while now.
A black rose.
I found it here after I had wandered off with some of my friends. They had dared me to step under the willow because they claimed it was haunted and cursed. I had stepped under it, and went so far as to nap under it. When I woke up, a single black rosebud was growing at my feet. It was small and weak, but if it was my curse than so be it. I cared for it for a while, and soon I had become attached to it.
"That dumb monkey... I can't believe he would put his hands around Blake like that!" I ranted to the flower. "And Blake---"
Blake? Blake wore the most surprised face I had seen ever. Her eyes were wide so they caught the light of the empty classroom perfectly. Her hands were pressed up to his chest and her cheeks were impossibly red.
"Blake likes him, not me," I confessed quietly to the rose. It swayed in the gentle wind, almost like its shaking it's head. I lied down next to it. "She likes him. End of story. I'm not a part of it. There's no place for me in her heart the same way there's a place for Sun." My vision blurred and my throat began to burn.
I leaned against the base of the willow's trunk and pushed my knees to my chest. I buried my face in my knees. "This is ridiculous, I'm crying like a stupid kid." But even though I knew how immature it was, my tears didn't stop. I let myself cry there for I dunno how long. When I lifted my head again my neck hurt and it was almost the end of the school day. I wonder why no one came to get me.
Then something caught my eye. Leaning up against the flower's stem was a white piece of paper. It was rolled up and wrapped in a black small ribbon. I wiped the tears from my eyes and picked up the paper:
Where were you? You missed class.
I managed to make up an excuse for you.
I was looking for you all day, but here you are.
Is everything alright? You've been looking down since yesterday.
- BBlake.
She was looking for me? Wow, that's surprising, I thought she'd be too busy staring into the dull eyes of Mr. Half-Naked-Monkey-Boy. I thought with such ferocity it surprised me. I flipped the paper over and on the other side there's note in the bottom corner.Sun asked me out again. I said no again. I hope he doesn't think I don't like him. I told him I said I'd go with you tomorrow but I don't think he gets it. Meet me outside the library tonight.
Of course he doesn't get it Blake. Why would he? I shoved the piece of paper in my pocket, my hand briefly brushes the Blake doodles I made. If I'm going to see Blake, I hope tonight is the day I tell her.
