Selena POV
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep
Oh God, turn it off! It's too early for that noise. I punch the top and fall back asleep, but not even five minutes later does it come back on. I snatch it out of the socket and throw it across the room to where it breaks. 'Dang it, that's this fifth clock this month' I thought groggily.
I get up and get my clothes for school and walk to the shower. After I finish with my hair I just stand there in the hot water and let my muscles relax from last night's fight. He was tough, but I was more skilled, anyone could easily point that out. I get out of the shower and get dressed in my skinny jeans and baggy tee-shirt and glasses. When I'm fully dressed I walk down the stairs and find my parents having coffee in the living room.
"Good morning mom and dad see you later," I tell them while walking out the door. I faintly hear them reply back while I walk to my car.
My parents know that I fight because they're the ones who trained me when I was younger. They actually encouraged me to do this as long as I didn't get caught. I've won every single fight that I've ever done. And when I win, I get money.
I don't want my parents' money for college. I want to get my own and I'm almost to my goal. I've been winning fights for four years so I think I got this.
I pull into the school parking lot where the seniors park their cars. I go to pull into a spot but then someone takes it and laughs at me.
Sometimes I don't know why I let them walk over me. But then I remember that I don't like people and I like my personal space. I've never had a boyfriend but that doesn't mean that I don't want one. I don't want any friends, the only friend that I need is my training coach. So I keep to myself and do my work in school. That's where the name nerd came from.
I mean it's not like I'm not one. I have straight A's in all of my classes. Especially gym and reading. I bet I'm better than the boys.
I walk to my locker and grab my stuff but when I close my door I almost jump two feet in the air. On the other side of my locker is Lizzete Carmichael the "queen-bee" of this school. She's always bullied me, even throughout elementary school. I never understood why, but it's not like I care anyways.
"How can I help you Lizzete?" I ask with real curiosity in my voice.
"I need you to do my homework this week I have cheer practice because there's a competition coming-" I cut her off before she gives me a headache.
"No, I won't do your homework I'm not your slave," I reply bluntly.
"Uh you're going to do as I say or else," she says moodily.
"I'm pretty sure the only woman to boss me around is my mother, so if you'll excuse me I'll be going to class now," I say while walking away from her.
The next thing I know is my hair being snatched from behind and she slams me up against a locker. The whole hallway goes quiet.
"Look geek, you will do as I say, when I say, got it?" She spits in my face.
"No, I'm not going to do it." I try walking away but I'm slammed against the lockers again. She goes to punch me in the face but I easily catch her fist and twist it behind her back.
I whisper in her ear "Don't you ever try to do that again. I'm sick and tired of your bullshit so leave me alone. I don't like you so no, I won't do your homework. And look you can do it yourself now because you're too injured to play with your silly little confetti balls," she groans in pain and this time I walk away without any hair pulling or slamming.
"You'll pay for this Selena!" She screams out and I just chuckle, like hell I will.
I walk into gym class and all I hear is whispers.
'Did you see what she did to Lizzete?'
'That was hot'
'She better have a good lawyer'
'She got what she deserved'
I laugh to myself at the last one as I walk in the changing rooms to get ready for class. I feel good today so I decide to wear my sports bra and some basketball shorts to class. My abs are fully on show for everybody to see. Some people gasp while I walk in and some guys whistle at me. I smirk and go to the coach so that he could tell us what to do for today.
"Alright gather up ladies, today we're running laps on the track. I want everyone to do five laps all the way no walking and I mean it Jerry," Jerry frowns but nods nevertheless.
"If you want to race come up to me so that I can write your names down. The racer's get only three laps around the track," he yells out and you see most of the guys run up there. I smirk knowing that I can beat each and every one of them. I run up there and someone calls out, "Hey babe jogging is that way."
"I know where I'm going," I say with confidence.
He gets some 'oohs' and he punches a few people, as expected from immature guys. Coach signs me up and we all get in line.
Once he blows the whistle I'm off. The other guys are far behind me while I keep my breathing steady. I've always loved running. Besides fighting this is my other favorite thing to do in my free time. One guy tries to catch up to me and I speed it up. First lap done second lap just started. Now me and this guy I think his name was Troy? I don't know but now we're neck and neck. When I speed up he speeds up. It's a good thing I practiced for something like this when it happened. I look behind me and see that the other guys are still way behind us. So I do what I practice and "twist my ankle" I yelp out in fake pain and Troy stops to help me. When's he near me and he's on the ground he ask "Are you okay there?"
I push off the ground and say "I am now," and I take off running with him far behind me now. I laugh at his stupidity to fall for that. But that was sweet he stopped and helped a girl. Gross, what am I saying? He's a stupid player, maybe he thought he'd get laid if he helped out. I finish the second lap and when I turn to look back I see Troy catching up so I speed up even more. I'm not even close to tired. When I finish the third lap the boys are still behind me by a lot. Troy comes in second and shoots me a glare. I laugh and turn to look around and everyone is staring at me. What did I do? I don't know why they're looking at me like that, they know that I have an A in this class. Coach comes up and claps me on the back. Everyone starts clapping and I smirk. 'This week has started off great.' I think to myself.
