Avery:

We went straight to the lunch line, and I waited while J bought her food. We made our way to our regular table, just as I started getting really panicky about talking to Cam. Things could go really badly, Cam wasn't really good at calmly talking.

I was so wrapped up, I didn't notice when Jean asked me a question. "Avery! Did you hear me?"

"I'm sorry, no." I said sitting down. She huffed and started picking at the pizza she bought. We sat at a table with Lia, Jenn, Andrea, and other people Jeanelle is friends with.

"Hey guys!" Lia chirped, when she saw us.

"Hi." I smiled.

For the rest of the lunch all I thought about was what I was going to say to Cameron. I was 90% sure I was going to break up with him. The other 10% told me that I needed him, you know a hero. Although Cam is really hot and smart, he's not.. my type. To be honest, I don't know what my type is.

When Jean and I were walking to Spanish, I made it final. "Jean?" I asked.

"Sup." I smiled and went on.

"I think I'm going to break up with Cameron." I sighed, it wasn't a sad sigh though, it was relief.

"OMG! YES!" She screamed. We got a couple stares from the people around us, so I got her to quiet down.

"Yeah, calm down!" I shushed, smiling. She smiled too and we walked to class.

Spanish was the usual, I was still busy thinking and before I knew it the bell had rung. "Where did the day go?" I asked Jeanelle as she walked me to detention.

"I don't know, have fun in detention." She said sarcastically, hugging me and then leaving.

"Bye!" I muttered and then, I opened the door. "O-" I stopped myself from screaming, when I saw Kian Lawley sitting in one of the desks. Ugh, why was god pinned against me today?

I've always avoided Kian. The classes I have with him, I don't look, the days I walk by, I fall silent. He isn't good. "Bad news." as Jean always says. I glance at him and regret it, he was already looking. I snapped my head back towards the front of the room as soon as our eyes met, but I could still feel his gaze on me.

Thankfully, Mr. Jones walked in and the awkwardness dimmed. "Ok, I see we have a new face today. Hey, Avery."

"Hi." I chirped, then swiftly got my book out. I began to read, but I still felt Kian's stare on me. I was about to look back, but Mr. Jones spoke up.

"Um, you guys. I'll be right back, I have to make some copies. Behave." He said and then walked out. I heard a creak and glanced back. I was surprised to see Kian right behind me, smirking.

"Um." I said, and he grinned widely.

"Hey, Avery." He said, I laughed.

"Ok, hey. Now bye." I waved and turned back to my book.

"Why bye? I'm not leaving." I could hear his smirk. I chuckled and ignored him, then Mr. Jones came back with a stack of papers.

"Kian, get back in your seat." He rolled his eyes.

"You're lucky." Kian whispered, then went back to his seat.

Detention ended after another 45 minutes and I rushed out of the classroom, eager to get home. I began my long walk, the heat was blistering and I was once again regretting getting detention. I wasn't scared of facing Cam anymore. In fact, I was excited. I would be free, finally!

The excitement just kept bubbling up, until I got to my house and saw no car. I pulled out my phone, and saw it was only 3:50. Ok, I have time. I thought, impatiently. I walked up the steep steps and unlocked the door.

I sighed when the air conditioning hit me. I sprinted up the stairs, so I could change out of my sweaty clothes. I had just finished pulling up my sweat-shorts, when the doorbell rang. I rushed down the stairs, skipping them 2 at a time and swung the door open.

"Hello....Kian!?" I asked surprised. "Um, why are you here?"

"You were all alone, princess. I'll stay with you." He winked and walked in.

"I'm fine, thanks? Can you leave?" I furrowed my eyebrows, I didn't need to be seen with Kian Lawley.

"Why?" He said, closing the door, and heading up the stairs. "You don't like me." It wasn't a question.

"I never said that," although it's true "I'm just, hanging out with someone." I told the half truth, while following him into my bedroom.

"Well-" He was cut off by the doorbell ringing again. "Is that your, company?" I nodded.

"Please, stay up here!" I pleaded.

"Why?" He smirked.

"Kian! Please." I whined.

"Fine." He said laying back on my bed. I'm still confused on why he's here, but whatever.

I ran down the stairs again, and answered the door. Sure enough, it was Cameron.

"Hey babe." He smiled.

"We need to talk." His smile faded and he followed me inside.
