Chapter Two

The venue we were doing our show at was really cool. It's an old warehouse on the outskirts of town; it was abandoned for a long time, but last years some guys bought it and renovated it. Now it's a popular hangout for the "emo" and "scene" crowds, plus the odd goth. A lot of up-and-coming bands perform there.

We pulled up behind The Warehouse, getting ushered inside by security guards. They helped us set up our instruments - no time for a sound check, because another band was already performing. Another thing about this place - on Friday nights, they have non-stop live music instead of the usual DJ.

The band before us finished up and ran off stage. The anouncer dude introduced us to the audience, then handed the mic to me before walknig off stage. I led my band members out onto the stage, looking over at them. We had discussed the arrangement for our show in the car. We decided to start and end with covers, so that we did our original songs in the middle.

I grinned as we started playing the intro to our first song, "Hell Above" by Pierce the Veil. I took a deep breath, then started to sing:

"I cannot spend another night in this home. I close my eyes and take a breath real slow. The consequence is if I leave I'm alone. But what's the difference when you beg for love?

"I run through glass in the street. Kerosene hearts carry the name that my father gave me And take the face of the wolf."

Lacey sang with me on the chorus. "'Cause this is a wasteland, my only retreat. With Heaven above you, there's Hell over me."

We performed the rest of the song like that, with me singing the main vocals, Lacey singing backup, and Rose doing all the scream vocals.

After we finished the song, we waited a few seconds, then started playing "If I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn" by Sleeping With Sirens.

After that, the playlist went:

"Raised by Wolves" by Falling in Reverse

"Hang In There" by Outcast Angels

"Mother, Father, Listen Here" by Outcast Angels

"I'm Not Your Friend" by Outcast Angels

"Never Coming Home" by Outcast Angels

"Hospital For Souls" by Bring Me The Horizon

"Someone Somewhere" by Asking Alexandria

I took a deep breath and looked over at my band-mates, who smiled supportingly. We were about to start our final song for the evening, and they both knew that this was one of my favorite songs to perform. "Lost It All" by Black Veil Brides.

With a small smile, I started to sing.

"I ruled the world. With these hands, I shook the heavens to the ground..."

I was sitting at the bar, not really paying attention to the band on stage. The crowd seemed excited about them, but I was just kind of bored. I didn't even want to go out tonight, but Ashley made me, the douche.

I looked up when I heard familiar music. The lead singer on stage glanced over at her two band mates, then turned to the crowd with a small smile. She started singing a song that I knew very well.

"I ruled the world. With these hands I shook the heavens to the ground. I laid the gods to rest. I held the key to the kingdom. Lions guarding caslte walls, hail the king of Death..."

I smiled. She had a lovely voice. It was feminine and angelic, yet soft and seductive at the same time. She put so much emotion into her singing, it was like every word came from her soul. I couldn't help but sing along under my breath as she began the chorus.

"Then I lost it all. Dead and broken. My backs against the wall. Cut me open. I'm just trying to breathe, just trying to figure it out, Because I built these walls to watch them crumbling down. I said, 'Then I lost it all'. Who can save me now?"

I looked around as I sang the chorus, my voice thick with emotion as I held back tears. This song really touches me, I relate to every single word of it. The first time I heard it, I started sobbing, and now it's still a bit of a challenge to sing it without crying.

I began the second verse, smiling as my eyes wandered the crowd.

"I stood above, another war, another jewel upon the crown. I was the fear of man. But I was blind. I couldn't see the world there right in front of me. But now... I can..."

I saw a man in the crowds, singing along to single word. He smiled at me, blue eyes meeting mine. I felt a soft pull in my chest, and quickly looked away.

"Because I lost it all. Dead and broken. My back's against the wall. Cut me open. I'm just trying to breathe, just trying to figure it out, Because I built these walls to watch them crumbling down. I said, 'Then I lost it all.' Who can save me now?"

I smilled, my eyes moist with tears. Only the two people up on stage knew just how much this song meant to me. It reminded me of when I first Fell, and of the raw pain that I felt for years afterwards. It reminded me of how I got up and built myself back up from the ashes. It reminded me that, no matter how far you fall, you can always rise back up.

"I believe that we all fall down sometimes. Oh-oh, oh-oh. Can't you see, that we all fall down sometimes. Oh-oh, oh-oh."

"I believe that we all fall down sometimes. Oh-oh, oh-oh. Can't you see, that we all fall down sometimes. Oh-oh, oh-oh."

I stood up, singing the last line ever so softly into the mic. "I believe that we all fall down sometimes. Yeah."

The entire building errupted into screams and applause. I smiled and waved one last time before running off of the stage with my friends. As soon as we were backstage, I dropped to the ground, sobbing. The emotion from that last song, plus the pressure from performing, finally getting to me.

"You were perfect!" Lacey exclaimed, hugging me. I nodded, smiling at her through my tears. She kissed my forehead then ran off to jump around with Rose.

I took a deep breath, trying to collect myself. I blinked quickly in an effort to stop the tears. I looked up when I heard a deep voice.

"You did really great out there."
