"Sir!"
He didn't even turn. I began to run after him, arms full with yesterdays paperwork.
"Sir!"
In my outstretched hand, the left one that wasn't carrying such heavy papers was a pair of sunglasses. Shinny, studded with diamonds. Glasses for a rich man. I finally catch up, and there is thee Alex Lake. His hair is as shinny and dark as they say. It's like a river of oil, running down his slender face. Why if I didn't know any better, he looked prettier than I. Long thick lashes. Perfect curved lips. A nose made for such a face. Alex Lake turns his big glassy gray eyes my way. And a flicker of annoyance slips over his face.
"Excuse me, sir, you dropped these." I said.
He rolls his eyes. No matter how gorgeous they were, even that was unattractive with such a face.
"Sir! Please, take them. I know they belongs to you." I said.
Alex Lake stalks off in a flurry of cologne, and I stand there, my arms wrapped around a file in one hand. And a pair of glasses to expensive for a manager.
"Hmm. Thank you." I said, and placed the glasses upon my nose.

I find Heather Doe waiting for me in the back seat of her limo. She points to the seat beside her with her thumb, in a quick swinging motion. I smile, and push my way into the limo. I sit beside her, brushing back strands of wild red hair.
"Sorry, I was late."
Heather nods, but her eyebrows answer first.
"What's up with those glasses?"
"Why don't you like them?"
"Yeah. But where did you buy them? Those must be worth a fortune."
"I," I pause, lying through my teeth. "A nice boy dropped them, and ha-ha, what do ya know, he let me keep them."
"Ugh. So unfair. Why would he give a thoughtless nobody like you a pair of nice glasses."
Oh, I love work so much!

I arrive home just past ten, where Mama is sitting before the fire her, knitting needles flying. I creep quietly into the room, and just than, she lifts her eyes to mine.
"RiAnn. I was wondering when you'd be back."
And than she spots my glasses.
"Ha, that's funny. Had I not known any better, I'd think they were…Alex Lake's glasses. You know he wears them everywhere!" Mom said.
"Yep. Yep. Wait! What did you say?"
"Those are Alex Lake's glasses." Mom says.
Her voice is at a near scream.
"What does that mean? Someone tell me!" I said.
"Well Alex Lake has this deal going on. He has hundreds of those glasses. You can tell because no other pair as such a design. And so expensive. He says he bets that no one would dare return them."
When I say nothing, Mom continues, her eyes still on her needles.
"So he purposesly leaves them around. Drops them, and such. But no one has ever returned them. People go about and brag about how they'd gotten a hold of Alex Lake's prized possession, when he has far more."
"And if you do?"
"Well no one knows. It doesn't matter anyway. You still have them."
"But I did try."
Mom smiled.
"Great things shall happen soon." Mom said. And when I tried to figure out just what exactly she meant, her needles feel still, her eyes drooped close, and she began to snore. I bet she was faking. Having an ex-actress for a mother sure had it's negatives. I smiled, and set her knitting aside. I kissed her forehead, tossed a blank over her slender body, and nodded.
Great things could happen.
But that didn't mean they should.
