"A lead," I muttered. "All I need is one damn lead."
"Whoever that person was, she's pretty stupid," Annabeth complained. "Revenge, she says, and yet she leaves not a single lead. What kind of person does that?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Leo said, scratching his head. "She wanted revenge so she took Marissa, bam, that's it, revenge over, done."
"Impossible," I said, rolling my eyes.
"Okay, now I'm confused too," Percy said.
"Okay, here we go," Nico said, sitting down on the couches, bracing himself. I began explaining.
"She wants revenge, right?" I asked and they all nodded, except for Annabeth. She seemed to know where I was going with this. "Well then that's her motive, but revenge on who? And why does she want revenge? No psychopath would just take a person away, say "revenge," disappear, and leave no clue, especially since she took her away in such a classy, magical, mystical way. She wants us to play along with her; she's toying with us. So why didn't she leave us a single clue to where she is?"
"Maybe she just wanted to get it over with?" Jason asked and I shook my head.
Revenge....
"I can't believe you can't even remember!!" someone suddenly yelled. It was a woman's voice. I looked around, so did everybody else, but no one else was there.
"Show yourself," I yelled, stretching my arms towards my backs, making my swords reveal themselves.
"Oh calm down, I'm not even in the room," the voice said once more. She had an English accent and sounded rather feminine.
"I KNOW THAT VOICE!" Leo yelled. "That's the chick that took Marissa!!"
"WHAT?!" I yelled.
"Yes, yes, now enough with the drama, hide your weapons and calm down."
"Who are you?" Annabeth asked.
"Oh, just a widow, that's all."
"Oh, yeah, a widow that took my GODDAMN BEST FRIEND YOU BIT-" I yelled but Nico grabbed my hand and tried to calm me down.
"Save your profanities for other rage-worthy moments. Trust me, this isn't the right time for that yet," said the voice. "My name is Shiela, and you took something very important from me."
"I did?" I asked, raising a brow. "Sorry but I don't remember any Shiela."
"Of course you don't," said Shiela, letting out a sigh afterwards. "It was a very long time ago-"
"Then why couldn't you get over it?" I asked, interrupting her. Leo was about to let out a laugh and I couldn't help but smirk either.
"Let me finish," Shiela said. I could sense her getting irritated already. "As I said, it was a very long time ago. It was back at the Lotus Hotel."
"I don't remember talking or doing anything to you," I said.
"LET ME FINISH!" she said, groaning in irritation. I couldn't help it, I let out a laugh and she just rolled her eyes. "How are you not taking this seriously, I have your friend!"
Just then, I heard Marissa's laughter in the background.
"You gotta admit, it's pretty funny," I heard her say. I let out a sigh of relief. Thank Zeus, she's safe.
"Where are you?!" I yelled.
"I honestly have no idea," she replied.
"That's enough!" Shiela yelled, letting out a sigh.
"Why are you doing this?!" Percy yelled.
"WELL IF YOU LE ME FINISH MY STORY, YOU'LL FIND OUT!" she shrieked in irritation. This time, all of us laughed.
"Alright, alright," I said. "Tell us why you're doing this so I can proceed to kick your ass and save my best friend."
She took in a deep breath and continued her story.
"My husband worked there as one of the waiters. They had to vow to keep the Hotel a safe place for its patrons and they had to stay their so I stayed with him."
"What the hell does that have to do with me?" I asked.
"You killed him."
Silence fell upon the room.
"Shiela," I said. "I've killed a lot of people in the entirety of my life but I don't remember killing anyone back at the Hotel. I remember going on a rampage, going back to my room, and I remember getting the heck out of that hell hole."
"You killed him..." she muttered. "And now... you will suffer."
My heart sank.
"GIVE ME BACK MY BEST FRIEND!" I yelled. Nico griped my wrist, trying to calm my down.
"Down a hill, amongst the trees..." Shiela muttered. "Along the path, underground."
"What the fu-?! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!" I yelled.
"DOWN THE HILL, AMONGST THE TREES, ALONG THE PATH, UNDERGROUND!"
Silence.
"Is she gone?" Annabeth asked.
"I think so," Leo muttered.
I plopped myself onto the couch and let out a sigh.
"What the hell is going on," I muttered. Nico sat down beside me and massaged my back.
"It's a lead," Percy said. "But where is that supposed to be."
"She's been targeting me for a while..." I muttered. "How'd she know we were here? Has she been following us all this time?? I never even noticed... And why Marissa?! WHY COULDN'T SHE TAKE ME INSTEAD!?"
"Crista! Calm down!" Annabeth said, holding my hand. "We'll find her, okay?"
"We have to..." I muttered.
