Loah was in the middle of her sweetest dreams, but then a noise appeared. She woke up, tired, in the middle of the night. She understood something wasn't right. This noise was a very low but bright tone from downstairs. It came closer, Loah got scared and hid under her blanket. But she was curious, this little girl, and she needed to see what it was. So she took her bravery and went out of her bedroom and with slow steps she got into the kitchen. The lockers and the shelves looked so scary in the dark. She followed the tone, behind the knives, past the toilet and... something. No, someone. Behind the corner of the toilet wall someone sat. The shadow covered the whole room. The person had a head, good start, something that looked like a neck, arms. No, no arms. There were two long snake-shaped arms, or whatever it was. Loah panicked and stepped back quickly. She ran up to her room and shut the door behind her. She laid down in her bed and tried to sleep again. But something scared her too much. And the noise the creature maid gave her tinnitus. Her wide open eyes slowly closed and the next time they would open it would be morning.
This time the girl woke up by the light that came in through her window. It was Monday, but she refused to go to school. As her parents told her, schools made for your best. She sat down, angry, thinking about her experience this night.
"It was just a dream." Her mum said
"No, it wasn't! I saw it! It had snake-arms!" Little Loah screamed. No one would believe her, she realised. Because she wasn't dumb, not for her age at least.
"Let her stay home." Her dad answered as a comment to stop the discussion.
"I don't think so. She'll get there, however angry she is." her mum said, now she was angry too. At the kitchen table this family sat, eating breakfast and screaming at each other. In their small house in a village called Beauteous Lake.
"I'll only go to school if you get me chocolate." Loah said sullenly with crossed arms staring at the sandwich.
"Give her what she wants then Gregory!" Her mum screamed to her dad and walked out.
