Chapter 3

1 week later

Joey's PoV

"LAUREN!? Come outtt! Pretty, pretty please?" I shouted throughout the house. How the hell was she so damn good at hide and seek? Amelia was obviously an easy find, but Lauren was nowhere to be found. Our condo's not even that big, where could she be? I searched room by room, over and over again for a good 20 minutes. Finally, I heard a noise. I walked back into the kitchen I had just left a minute ago to see Lauren standing next to a fallen over chair with a guilty look on her face.

"Where have you been? I must have looked everywhere at least twice" I said.

"Oh, you know, here... there, there, under there, in there..." she listed on, pointing to numerous places.

"You moved? That's not fair you little cheat!" I jokingly yelled.

"Hey we never established any rules" she said in defense.

"Alright, fine. Next time... NO MOVING!"

"Well fine if you want to ruin all the fun" she huffed. "I was doing so well too, but I had to knock over that stupid chair."

"Well that's what you get for cheating" I told her.

"Yeah, yeah... Hey what time are we supposed to meet Brian and Meredith?" she asked me.

"Ummm... let me check really quick." I pulled out my phone and opened the message from Brian. "Brian said 6:30" I told her.

"Okay. And you got the babysitter, right?" she asked. Shit, I forgot that part.

"Ummm, yes?"

"Oh my god Joey I gave you one job. This is what I get for letting the guys plan the evening" she said.

"Look don't worry about it, I'll just call her now. She's a high schooler, I'm sure she's not too busy to sit around for a few hours. Amelia will be asleep most of the time anyway." I said, starting to dial Aubrey's phone number.

A: Hello?

J: Hi, Aubrey?

A: Yeah, what's up?

J: It's Joey from down the street. I was wondering if you might be able to babysit tonight?

A: Oh, I don't know... My friend and I were supposed to hang out and watch movies..

J: Oh, umm, hold on a second

"She said she's supposed to watch movies with her friend..." I said.

"Tell her as long as her friend is a girl and she promises not to neglect her job, she can bring her friend along" Lauren said.

J: Aubrey?

A: Yeah?

J: What's your friend's name?

A: Madelyn.

J: Okay, Lauren says as long as you remember you're here to work, you can bring Madelyn with you.

A: Okay that works. What time should I be there?

J: How about 6? You'll have to watch Amelia for an hour or so, but you can put her down at 7 and then you'll have the rest of the night to watch movies.

A: Okay sounds good. I'll see you in a few hours.

J: Okay, see you soon. Thank you!

A: Yep, no problem. Bye.

J: Bye.

"Alright, we're all set" I told Lauren.
