Chapter 2

"Hi," I replied. I was stunned. How could the Doctor be on a TV show and actually exist?!? It wasn't possible!

"And who are you?" the Doctor asked. He still had his hand stuck out, waiting for me to shake it.

"Oh, I'm sorry," I said, shaking his hand. "I'm Emile."

"Nice to meet you, Emile," the Doctor said.

"Doctor, I don't mean to be blunt, but how are you here? You don't exactly, exist," I said sheepishly.

"What do you mean I don't exist? I'm standing right in front of you, aren't I?" he replied, thinking I was joking.

I showed him my television screen. "See, you're on TV."

"That's an actor. They aren't really my adventures, just made up by writers," he said confidently. "I am quite popular, if I do say so myself."

"So who is your companion now?" I asked.

"My companions are Amy and Rory. We were just about to go to Manhattan when I got a message on my psychic paper telling me to come to these coordinates," he explained.

I realized that I knew more than he did about his future. I knew what was going to happen in Manhattan, so I tried not to give anything away with my facial expression, but I guess I failed because he asked me what was wrong.

"Doctor," I started. "Those TV shows are real. I know Amy, Rory, Donna, Martha, and even Rose. I know what happened to them."

He didn't believe me, so he decided to test me. "Okay, if you know so much, who is Melody?"

"Melody Pond is Amy and Rory's daughter. Now she goes by the name River Song," I explained, trying not to seem smug.

The Doctor's jaw dropped. "Okay, so you do know about me. How is that possible?"

He got his sonic screwdriver out of his jacket pocket and ran it up and down my body, like he does with the different aliens he meets. "You're just a normal human, nothing special about you. So how can you know all of this about me?"

"Doctor, I'm not the only person who watches this show. There is a whole fandom out there. People are obsessed with Doctor Who."

"Doctor Who? That's really what you all call it?" he asked. "How typical."

"Doctor, can you please focus? How is this possible?" I asked, trying to keep him from getting distracted.

"I'm not sure," he replied, grabbing my face in his hands. "But I'm going to find out, I promise. Now, would you like to come with Amy, Rory, and I to Manhattan?"

"I..." I started.

"Please?" he asked, putting his hand together like he was begging.

I contemplated his offer. This is when Amy and Rory leave the Doctor forever. This was a fixed point in time. I couldn't even warn them of what was going to happen. Is this what River felt like all the time? Gosh, how does she handle it? But this was an offer to travel with the Doctor. How can you pass up something as wonderful as that?

"I would love to go with you," I finally replied, trying to hide my knowledge behind a smile.

"Great! Come on," he said as he pulled me into the TARDIS.
