I woke up, with the sound of the seagulls flying through the crisp Miami air. I looked out my window and watched the waves from the ocean crash up against the sand. I could smell the pancakes my father was making in our little kitchen, and could hear our little television set with my little sister, Sophia's favorite show. I started to get up slowly, as I saw my first-day outfit lying on my bed, and saw my new purple backpack on the chair next to my desk. Today would be my first year as a junior in Miami High. I got up and went into the peach colored bathroom, where I could still see the boxes of things in it. We have just moved here, with my father working as a factory worker, who barely scrapes enough money for supper. Anyway, I got ready as I usually do. I brush out my long black hair, and brush my teeth. I went downstairs to our light green-tropical themed kitchen, with more boxes all around us.  I talked to Sophia because it was her first day of first grade. I had a bagel, and a orange, and was out the door, to my first day as a junior.
