Fantasia's POV

Change was all around me. My dad left, I no longer had a boyfriend or a best friend and my mom is avoiding me. Yet when I looked in the mirror, I saw no change at all from the past two years. I was just boring old "me". But now, that was going to change.

I took the scissors and held them up to my hair. This is it I thought. I'm going to do it! I opened the metal utensil and put a lock of my hair in between the blades, then I chopped and clipped and didn't stop until all my hair was a little lower than my shoulder. But it didn't look quite right. You need bangs. The little voice inside me said so that's what I did. I chopped my bangs down to right above my eyes. Next is the hard part.

I picked up the two boxes from my bed that contained my new hair color that I've worn before and opened them. I took the first bottle, shook it real well and then opened the tip. I started from the bottom and worked my way up, stopping only once to get the second bottle of dye, then I waited the thirty minutes before washing it out.

As the last bit of conditioner washed out, I flipped my hair back and then I did the Egyptian towel thing on top of my head. I went to my room and blow dried my hair. I looked up and was stunned. My new shiny black hair glistened in the light and the bangs complimented my face very well. My plain brown eyes now stood out and I guess the dye made my semi-perm fault because my hair naturally flattened out, like it had been before. I loved my naturally black hair, it was one of my favorite things but once I moved I had to change it. The brown perm was different and helped me blend into the background but I don't need to blend anymore.

-the next school day (Monday)-

I stepped out of my Malibu and I swear, heads turned or maybe it was just my nerves. I was nervous but kept it hidden behind a blank stare. I needed to appear like I give no fucks. Quite frankly, I didn't. I just didn't want people to question me. I've always been on the more quiet side these past few years, biting my tongue and holding back but not any more.

"Fantasia...?" I heard. "Is that you?" I glanced in the direction the voice came from and there stood Carrie. All normal and nonchalant.

I slung my new leather bag over my shoulder as I scoffed at her and just kept walking. I just wasn't in the mood to talk to my back stabbing best friend. Oops I mean EX-best friend. She just stood in her spot and stared at my back as I walked. I shouldn't be mad at her. She honestly didn't know she was fucking Brandon but still. I'm mad and he had sex with her so she is now a target of my rage.
