Heist

Nelly rode her white horse close to the township and stopped for a moment, patting the silken neck of her new animal. "I should probably name you." She said to her horse. "But let's not tell, Gabe." She thought for a moment. "How about Red, because you are far from that colour, and that is the shade Gabe will turn if this doesn't go well." Red bobbed her head up and down, snorting. Nelly took this as yes, and felt her heart lift a little. The men let her ride on by herself, not wanting to arouse suspicions with them all arriving in town together, and Nelly was relishing every second she was away from them. Just her and her horse, Red. "It's not very feminine, but it will do." Nelly smiled, drawing in a deep breath before nudging Red on. Because there was no turning back now, she had already made up her mind.

Caleb informed them on their ride from their camp, that the town wasn't even meant to be there originally. But too many people had settled there, and from looking around, Nelly could tell by the permanent buildings that it was there to stay. Plus, it had its own bank now, and it was a heart beat away from being christened.

All towns were the same, having one street down the center as the main street, and it was at the edge of this one where she saw the bank her brother told her about. It had turned into a pleasant day, not too hot, and the town was quite green, being along the river. She actually wished she was there for other purposes. Like, meeting Cain for dinner, or, seeing a play, or some such thing. Because she felt pretty wearing her clean, off white dress, riding her white horse into the cute town. Nelly had always been sure she could simulate into normal civilization. She looked normal, not like the thief she truly was, wearing her hair half up, tied back with the only decent ribbon she owned, and the rest falling neatly down her back. It wasn't to be though, because Cain was gone, and her life had never involved the things other young ladies enjoyed, except for, perhaps, a pretty dress here and there. Goodness, she would settle for anything other than what she was there for.

The first thing she needed to do was find the hotel. Caleb said it would never do if she just rode in and went straight to bank to deposit money. She needed to seem as though she was there to start a life, and Nelly already had a story concocted in her mind as her cover. So riding past the bank. She continued to the place called The Rose n Crown, a small, two story hotel, and dismounted, tying Red to the hitching post. Pulling off her two bags, one of them actually being the satchel. She then continued through the white doors, and into a neat little lobby.

The smell of roses lingered in the room. Nelly looked around and found the source. A beautiful bouquet of them in full bloom sat on the counter in a white vase. The scent inviting her to step forward to smell them, easing her nerves a little. Tony had done his job, knowing there was room available at the hotel made everything happen quite quickly. The lady who ran the establishment, Mrs Christie, was excited to meet her, and they spoke of the roses while she organized the things Nelly would need. And before Nelly knew it, she found herself looking down over the town from the upstairs window of her room. From where she stood, she had a clear view of the bank.

The clock in the foyer told her she had an hour before she had to go. So she took that time and used it to get her head around what she was about to do. She was bout to become a direct accomplice to a bank robbery. The only thought driving her forward was the fact she was closer than ever to her goal of leaving. Of riding off in the opposite direction Gabe had told her to meet him. It only occurred to her just then, that when she left the men concealed in the bush, it may have been the last time she would see them. Did she feel sad? No, she didn't, but she did feel her heart skip a beat and her hands became sweaty of a sudden.

"It will be alright, Nelly." She whispered to herself. Hoping for her sake she could hold it together long enough to do pull off this heist, and then it will be over.
