~Chapter 1~
Zaria's POV
"Zaria Jo Miller! Get your ass out of bed. You're going to be late for school!" my mom yelled through the door. I groaned and reluctantly got out of my warm, comfortable bed. Why is it that I have to get up as soon as my bed is finally comfortable? As I made my way to the bathroom, my mom made sure got another word in.
"Are you up yet?"
"Yeah ma! I'm up!" I shouted back before getting ready for the day. I did my normal morning routine: shower, get dressed, do my hair and make-up, inspect myself. I tugged on a pair of black high-waisted shorts along with my Sleeping With Sirens crop top, put on a little foundation, eyeliner, and mascara, and let my mid length orange-tinted blonde hair fall in it's naturally straight form. My black, studded ankle boots were carelessly thrown on my feet before inspection. I looked in the mirror and sighed at my reflection. I never truly did like the way I looked. Never had I ever thought to myself wow, I look good today. I just never thought I was pretty I guess.
Before I could make anymore judgements about myself, I grabbed my bag and walked downstairs. My mom had already set out a piece of peanut butter toast for me on the counter. I grabbed the piece of toast and ate it quickly before thanking my mom.
"Zaria, you're going to be late for the last day of school if you don't hurry your ass up!" she yelled back.
That's my mom! Always yelling at me to "hurry my ass up."
"Alright, alright! I'm leaving," I mumbled more to myself than to her. Grabbing my bag, I rushed out to my car; a midnight blue Dodge Challenger, which I had paid for with my own hard earned money. This car was like my child. "You can do it Zaria, just make it through today, the last day." I thought to myself.
The drive to my school isn't very long seeing as I usually make it their within five minutes if not less. Why not walk, you ask? Well, I'm a lazy ass. That's why. I pulled into the parking lot and smile as I see my best friend walking over to my car.
"Hey Z!" my best friend, Arielle Jones, greeted me cheerfully. I laughed softly at her cheerful mood.
"Hey Elle, what's got you all happy and stuff?" I asked, playfully bumping her hip with mine as I locked my car. She just shrugged and smiled even wider.
"Oh, just that today is the last day of high school and afterwards I get to party with my main ho'."
I laughed at my strange friend before looking over at her. "You look good Elle!" I said, and I meant it. Her long black hair that was about the same length as mine was curled, contrasting with her bright blue eyes that were lined with black eyeliner. She had on a pair of pastel floral print skinny jeans with a light blue sheer blouse. Her shoes were just a simple pair of cream crochet flats.
"Thank you!" she said, smiling widely, "You look great too Z!" she finished.
I gave her a soft smile and mumbled a thanks before she stopped me in my tracks. She put a hand on each of my shoulders, forcing me to turn towards her. She wasn't more than an inch shorter than my 5'10" frame so it wasn't hard to reach my shoulders for her.
"Zaria, you really do, trust me," Arielle finished, giving me a reassuring smile. Hearing her say it again didn't change anything, but I forced a smile and gave her another thanks before we headed off towards the school. "Ready to face the day my friend?" Arielle asked, changing the subject.
"Not at all, but I'm ready to be done with high school, that's for damn sure." We both laughed as she nodded her head in agreement. Walking into school, nobody really payed attention to us. Elle and I were just the average kids at our school that no one noticed.
"One day, all these bitches are going to wish that they knew us in high school," I joked, making Elle literally laugh out loud, which also made me laugh.
"I know, we'll be all famous, struttin' our stuff, and they'll be sitting on their asses stuffing their faces with chips, surrounded by cats," she finished, sending us both into fits of laughter right in the middle of the hallway. A few kids stared but after a while, they went back to minding their own business.

Throughout the day, each of our teachers gave little speeches about what a great year they've had and all that other bullshit. I'm almost positive that they were paid to say that. When the final bell rang, Arielle and I waited as everyone else decided to jump out of their seats and haul ass out of the classroom at the same time.
"Crazy bitches, thinking that if they run they'll get out of here easily," Arielle mumbled as we walked out of the classroom. I giggled at her as we walked to our lockers for the last time, grabbing our stuff, brfore we walked out the front doors. I looked back at the front of the school before turning back around to Arielle.
"You know, the only thing I'm really gonna miss about thiss hell hole is being on the volleyball team," I said as we walked up to my car. I dug around in my purse before pulling out the keys and unlocking the car. Arielle and I got in the car and buckled up before I started the car.
"Me too. That was the only thing that made me put effort into school." Arielle and I were both on the varsity volleyball team for our school, and we were both actually pretty good and super dedicated. To stay on the team, we had to maintain good grades in school. This wasn't a problem for either of us considering we both passed with straight A's.
"Now please, turn the radio on so I can start to get my pre party on!"
"Jeez, calm yourself Elle! I said playfully, earning a tongue being stuck out at me from her. I laughed and turned the radio on, searching for a good station. When I finally found one, Oath by Cher Lloyd started blasting through the speakers. We looked at each other with wide eyes and the biggest smiles before rolling the windows down and singing along to the loud music. This was our song, and we intended on sharing it with the world.
When we pulled into my driveway, the song had ended and a new one began playing. I took the keys out of the ignition and stuffed them into my purse while getting out of the car. Arielle and I walked up my front steps towards the front door before we heard yelling, and lots of it, coming from inside, My heart instatly dropped as I walked through the door.
