Angel of the Gilded Cage

When you look at me what do you see?

Do you see my pains troubles, or agonies?

Do you see the scarred and shattered soul or the mask that hides it all?

I am your angel, an angel locked in a gilded cage.

An angel full of suppressed rage.

I'm just trying to grasp onto the rope of hope that was left nearly thread bare.

I try my best to stay in your grace.

But it seems like temptation is always in the way.

I beg for your forgiveness, for it is the only way I may be saved.

I am your angel, an angel locked in a gilded cage.

An angel partially tarnished by the corruptive force of this cruel world.

I ask that you shall not forget regret, and detest me.

I pray that you keep me within your burning light.

I am your angel, an angel in a gilded cage
