How is this happening?

   "JAMES!" James wakes up slowly to the familiar voice of his mother.
"JAMES PATERSON!" Jumping out of bed, James looks down on his mother. Enraged his mother yells at him once again.
"YOU ARE GOING TO BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!"
"Crap mom I'm sorry I'll hurry I promise." James goes to his closet running picking clothes out. After the late start he decides not to take his shower and get to school.
James takes fast steps down then stairs, nearly tripping after skipping steps.
"Bye Mom, love you!"
"Hurry James! Love you too!"
James runs to his car, an old red 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. He tries to turn the car on but it won't start.
"AGHHH" he hits the steering wheel.

   Jason arrives around 12:00 meaning he was in lunch.
"Jason where you been man!?"
Conner asks. Jason sighs and shakes his head.
"I had to take the car into shop, it wasn't starting again"
"Bro you need to get rid of that thing."
"I know" Jason agrees.
Conner thinks " Hey, don't you have a doctors appointment today at 1:00?"
Jason sighs out of frustration. "Yeah I do, I completely forgot. But I don't have a damn car to get there!"
"Yo, I can drive you don't worry." Conner grabs his shoulder. Jason smiles and nods.
"Thanks man, you are a big help." Conner nods with a smile.
"What are you going in for anyway?" Jason tenses thinking "Crap I'm not ready to tell him yet...should I?....no he doesn't need to know yet. It's not even official yet." Jason looks Conner in the eyes and brushes it off.
"Just a check up, don't worry."
