Chapter 2: Ghost or Lecturer?

*previous chapter*

I walked at the balcony, and I found a necklace with heart shape pendant. There’s a small picture of the princess in it while at the back of the heart shape pendant there was a name printed on it. Coraline Holmes it says.

Niklaus’s POV

What am I going to do? I can’t brain this stuff. This is so illogical. A TALKING NECKLACE! Aha! That’s it! It is talking pendant. I flip the pendant to look if it has any wire or modern technology stuck in it. But then, reality crashed onto me. The necklace had been created a few centuries ago, which means there is no technology back then.

“How could I be this stupid?” I thump my feet on the floor like a small kid. I felt frustrated with my own careless thought. You must be wondering why I am taking my ‘brain’ as a big issue now.

Actually, I forgot to mention the most important part about me. I’m a student in George Stamford College. I’m taking sociology and archaeology as my main course, because I love to travel a lot.

As I said before, I made many friends when I was travelling around the world finding for something ancient to sell or to present it as my assignment requirement. To be precise, I love my job and my studies.

But there is one problem now. I proudly said that I am the teacher’s pet, because I’m quite matured and more dedicated than the other students. So I’m here now, debating with myself, should I hand this necklace to the museum and completed the task given by the lecturers or keep this necklace to me.

I grasp the necklace tight in my palm and walk out from the castle. I decided to complete the task. I can’t keep this. Prof Zen is hoping for my cooperation.

“This is my responsibility.” I mumbled.  Even though, for some odd reason I feel sad and lost.

“Oh! Niklaus! I thought you would not make it!” said Prof Zen secretary, Maria.

“Yeah, I caught up with something.” I said quietly.

“Why do you look sad?” Maria asked.

“I don’t know.”

“Care to tell?” Maria said. I was thinking real hard should I tell her or not. She might be thinking I had lost my mind or something. But I need someone to ease me, to tell me that everything is fine. So I end up telling Maria everything.

“Hm, quite… weird. But yeah. Things happened.” She was speechless. I just nod my head, I know I won’t get a sooth sentence if you telling somebody an abnormal story.

“You stay here. I go get Prof Zen, okay? You go walk around. Maybe, that would soothed your mind up.” There is a fear and excited glint in her eyes. But that’s only remained for a few second. Maybe it’s just my thoughts.

I walked around the museum, while humming Undisclosed Desires by Muse. I snuck my hand in my jeans pockets. I could remember each and every story from the artefact that shown in this museum.

For instance, the fascinating Ancient Egypt exhibition are the gilt and painted cartonnage case of the mummy Tentdinebu, as well as a number of important stelae (an upright stone or slab with an inscribed or sculptured surface, used as a monument or as a commemorative tablet in the face of a building.), tomb furniture, offering tables, and jewellery and household objects.

Not to be missed is the Viking Ireland exhibition. At the centre of this exhibition is a display of finds from the Museum’s Dublin excavations, carried out between 1962 and 1981.

See! I know everything; I mean I can explain to you about the monuments in this museum. But then I saw a passage that I never entered it before. The passage was bright and decorated with…PURE GOLDEN?! How I not know but this.

I jog a bit inside the passage until I saw a beautiful woman; she had a very dark colour hair tied in lose pony tail that flow until it stops at her waist. She was wearing a typical princess dress with corset wrapped around her tiny body. I step closer to her; she was trapped in cylinder glass like a Barbie doll. Now, I can take a proper look at her. Her blue dress was match with her crystal blue eyes. Her cheek bones were a bit high and her lips curve a bit into a small smile. When I stared into her crystal eyes, there was a dinosaur roaring in my stomach. I won’t use the term of butterflies in my stomach because it’s too main stream.

“How could a beautiful woman like you trapped in this cylinder glass?” I talked to her. Which I know, she won’t answer it. I mean, she can’t answer me.

Suddenly I feel something buzzing and vibrating in my pocket. I slip my hand in it and pull out the necklace that I had took from the castle.

“Maybe, this necklace would look more nicer when I wrap it around your neck.” I still talked to her. Please, smack my head after this. I don’t even have the slightest idea what am I doing.

The only thing I know is, this girl had made my heart stir into a very pleasure feeling and this necklace is belonging to her.

Once I tuck the necklace clip on her neck, suddenly there was a very bright light came out from the pendant. I can’t even look; I thought I was blind already because the light was too bright! It’s stung my eyes.

Then I heard a gasped! Like someone is trying to catch a breath after drowning in water.

When the bright light is gone, then I noticed what in a deep shit I’m in right now.
