Chapter 3: Mushy Mushy Feeling with Mushroom Soup

“Oh heavenly earth! Is this machine moving?”

“Yes Coraline, it’s moving and it’s called as elevator.”

“There are lots of button with number here. Why don’t they sew it on dress?”

“It’s called the elevator button. They represented each level in the building.”

“Can we open the roof?”

“Coraline…”

“Yes?”

“Shut up”

“Why?”

*DING!*

I dragged her out from the elevator by grabbing her arm. Her eyes were wide and spark with curiosity. She can’t stop grinning while giggling. It’s good to see her very giddy because to be honest she was looking very cute. I had to refrain myself from pinching her cheeks but I was stressed with her 1001 questions about the whole new life. I know it’s still new for her, but hey I’m not used to the situation of living with someone for 24/7. Suddenly I missed my lone ranger life.

“Your house is very big! It has so many levels! It has button and machine that can move me up and down! There are so many doors! Can we play hide seek and kill trolls?!” she was trying to pull her hands from my grasp.

“What did I just told you?” I tried my very best to look at her with stern face.

“Shut up.” She grinned while zipping her lips with invisible key.

“Good. Now follow me without any words and hold my hand, princess.” I pressed the word princess. Its sarcasm, I’m definitely not going to call her princess.

“Why on earth should I hold your hand?!” she scowled.

“Oh come on. You don’t want to get lost in my ‘house’?” I asked her playfully. Immediately panic started to spread on her pretty face she grabs my hand with urgency.

“Take me to your house, Niklaus.”

“Gladly.”

Once we arrived right in front of my house, I took out my house keys from my pocket. She waited patiently behind my back while brushing her hair using her long beautiful finger. Her action was graceful with tender and pride. No matter how crazy she can be but her gesture and calmness was non-other like’s princess. Her mother had raised her well I guess. I kick my door slightly and it opens inward. She gasps and slaps my arm softly.

“Do not kick the door young man. It’s rude and inappropriate.” She said sternly.

“I’m sorry your highness.” I rolled my eyes; I have to gather all my patience since I had to handle this princess. It takes a lot of guts for me not to brush her off or yelled at her. But even if I had the guts, I still can’t do it. I had to remind myself that she is alone and no one will give a damn about her. I had to take care of her. She had nobody left except me. She is my responsibility.

“Don’t call me that. Now, invite me in. If not I’ll be sleeping in guilt.” She said with serious tone.

“Seriously?” I chuckled. She nodded quickly with smile glued on her lips.

“Come in and remember, make yourself at home. This is your house from now on.” I said. I hear a soft gasp let out from her mouth. I turn my back on her quickly and entered the house. I pick up my dirty clothes on the floor and throw it into basket near the washing machine. I grab my dirty dishes and slam it in dish washer. I run to my bedroom and grab my pillow and comforter; quickly I drop them into basket that is full with my dirty clothes. I run back to my room, snatch new sheets from the cupboard. I throw it on my bed, brushing it. I run into the toilet and look at them with a quick glance, just in case if I left ‘something’ inappropriate in it. I grab my toothbrush and necessary things.
