Chapter 3

I slid to the floor as tears threatened to pour. My arms came around my knees as I slowly fought the overpowering desire to cry. My chest hurt as I took in a breath, the dull agonizing pound of my heart reverberated throughout my entire body.

Why had this happened?

I didn't expect to feel the excruciating pain that I was currently going through. My brain kept replaying the scene over and over again as I sat there and quietly watched, the minutes dragged into hours and I knew I should have been home hours ago. I slowly drew myself up onto my shaky legs and placed the handle of my bag over my shoulder. I walked outside, my body felt numb at the realization that I had just rejected my mate. I could hear my wolf's cries as they shook through my body.

“Why?” she asked.

“Why did you reject him, our mate? Did you see how much you hurt him? How you hurt me? I’ve always supported you throughout everything and this is how you repay me!" She shreiked.

I pushed her accusations to the back of my mind I knew she was right.

“That's because I’m always right!” my wolf shouted.

“Just shut up okay!” I shouted back infuriated at her tone.

The walk from my school, Eastwood High to the pack house was about 3 miles long but because I had been so preoccupied with my thoughts I seemed to reach there much quicker then it usually took.  I walked onto a big mass of land in a clearing, with a dense forest that stretched on the left side.

There was a massive house that lay in the middle, it was completely white and had concrete marble steps that led to the front door. The front door was made of a dark wood that had been intricately designed with intricate lattices. On either side of the door stood two twisting pillars that supported the front of the house. The house itself had about 40 rooms both at the top and the bottom. This was the pack house or most commonly known as the Alpha’s headquarters, since only him and the Beta's family actually lived there. The rest of the Pack lived around the Pack house in small quaint cottages that were all unique and personalised to their owners. I walked to my house which was in the second inner circle of cottages. The cottage itself was white, but it had a wooden door, and there were an array of flowers that sat in flowerbeds outside. I pushed the door of the cottage open, of course because we were such a large pack of werewolf's we didn't need to lock our doors, no humans were strong enough to go up against us and anything that wanted us dead wouldn't be stopped just because of a lock.

As I opened the door the smell of my aunt's famous lasagne wafted towards me. I closed the door behind me, the house was open plan and the living room lay on the right hand side, large sofas lay around a fireplace that contained logs. A large beige rug lay on the ground on top of the wooden floorboards that was painted a dark mahogany. Over to the left hand side was a kitchen that was separated from the living room by a counter, on the far side was a large wooden table that could seat eight people. (Yes, wolfs were very fond of wood and this could be seen throughout our furnishing) Also on the far side of the wall was a door that led to a hallway that had an entrance to my uncles study room and a bathroom, at the end of the hallway was the staircase that led to two separate bedrooms. Even though the house was small it was still home.
