Anna was sleeping at home in her bed during the night, restless, dreaming of that night when she had witnessed her parents killed by the men in suits. She was only woke when her phone rang. She sighed in relief when she realized it was just another dream, sitting up to get her phone from the bedside table. "Yeah, Mia. Hey. What's up?"
"Anna, you need to come home," Mia told her.
"Why?" Anna asked.
"It's Letty," Mia told her. "She's been murdered."
Anna couldn't react. She was too much in shock and in too much denial to process. She could not believe that Letty was dead.
✯
Mia Toretto was among the funeral attendees for Letty.
A priest gave his blessing. "We have gathered hee to pay our final respects to Leticia Ortiz. Let us reflect on her journey..." Brian O'Connor was standing several feet away from the funeral service. "The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me lie down..."
On a nearby cliff, several hundred feet away, above ground, Dom was watching from afar.
On another cliff several hundred feet away from Dom's cliff, Anna was watching from afar.
They couldn't be at Letty's actual funeral service because the FBI, Brian and his partner included, were there.
From across the distance, Dom and Anna looked at each other knowingly, painfully, grieving, but not letting their emotions bring them down from what had to have been done.
✯
Anna drove up to the street where it had happened. She got out of the car, walking to the crossroads. She saw the tread marks on the pavement, and it was like she could imagine what had happened.
Two cars were racing. One car turned to ram into the other, making the car flip down the pavement.
Anna found yellow powder on the ground, kneeling in front of it, dabbing a finger in it. She stood, turning to look down the road again, imagining what had happened, only with less vague flashes than before.
Two cars were racing. One car turned to ram into the other, making the car flip down the pavement, through Anna, coming to a stop upside down.
Letty opened the door of the upside down car, weakly trying to get out, but could barely move.
A man approached Letty, cocking a gun, aiming it at her.
The gunshot fired.
Anna was out for revenge.
✯
At Jo's military lab, Anna walked toward Jo at his desk. "Tell me something. Could Letty have been involved with any of what my parents had?"
"I was checking that side of things while you were out being Nancy Drew," Jo told her. "From what I can tell, there is only one connection between Letty and your parents. They both worked for Braga." Anna closed her eyes, sighing. "I take it you know who that is."
"Yeah," Anna answered. "But what the hell was Letty doing with Braga? That's not the way that she works."
"I don't know, kid," Jo told her. "But you sure that she'd want you to go through with this."
"As long as I didn't lose myself in the process," Anna answered. "And I'm gonna make whoever killed her pay. But I'm not going to lose myself while doing so. I'll have some help so I that I won't."
"Let me guess," Jo told her. "Dominic Toretto."
Anna nodded. "Dom."
