Shadow

"We're here!", Daine shouted, interrupting me from my sleep.

I haven't slept for 5 hours, Daine, shucks.

I rubbed my eyes.

Suddenly, Daine pressed her face onto the car window glass.

"Wake up! Sleepyhead!", her nose looking like a pig's.

I helped her with our stuff.

She parked our car somewhere.

When I turned around, I found out Daine fooled me.

This isn't a mansion. There aren't any swimming pools, jacuzzis, not even a single mini bar! Daine!?!?

"Welcome, to the woods,", grinning ear to ear.

"The most magical place on Earth!", then she laughed like a witch.

I got out of the car and carried my stuff from the trunk.

"That's many, why?", she asked, raising her eyebrows.

"I want it this way, don't ask why.", I said grumpily.

She looked surprised, then "Okay wait for me here. I'm gonna find a place to park."

I stood still where she left me.

I can hear the whistle of the wind, and the summer air.

I smelled it. It was the best, among the past summers.

Then I heard a crunch.

The leaves behind me seemed to fly away.

I shivered.

What was that!

"Who is that?", I asked, shivering.

The leaves crunched again, as if somebody stepped on them.

I saw a shadow.

'W-who---",

"Jill! C'mon! It's getting hot here. Let's build our camp."

Daine didn't seem to notice the paleness of my face.

What was that!?
That's so creepy.

"Uh, Jill? Are you okay?", she put her hand on my forehead.

"Yes, of course I am,"

"O-okay then," she was still doubtful.

Damn it. What the fudge was that!?

We walked for a little while.

after 30 minutes

"And, we're at our campsite.", Daine said, pointing to a torn-out tent, with a bonfire, full of ashes.

"Uh, you serious?"

"Does my face look like I'm joking?",she pointed to her face, and made a dull look.

"Okay, fine. So what do we do?", I said, sitting on a stump.

"Wait here, I'm gonna get something."

"Ok, be quick."

"Why, you scared? Haha."

"Am not.", I said, then I gave her a tough look. She smirked, then walked away.

The leaves crunched.

I swear. I'm gonna kill Daine if she's scaring me. My heartbeat was going fast. I was so scared. What is that creature?

I saw it. I saw a shadow.Behind me.

I froze. What should I do? My heart stopped. I was unable to move. Suddenly, I rose up from the stump. I closed my eyes as I turned around. I was ready to run.

"Uh? Hi?", a blue-eyed boy said.

Oh shit. Hell Jill, you just scared yourself.

"Uh hi? What are you doing here?", I said.

"Why? Is this your forest?", he smirked.

"You know what? You're sh*t. You scared me, a while ago. I almost lost my heart, you know that? And now, you're acting like nothing happened! How crazy is that!?", I shouted. I was turning red, I can feel it.

"Whoah. Breathe. Inhale, exhale. Look, I wasn't trying to scare you, okay? It's not my fault you assume too much. You're like a kid, so many WILD imaginations.", he scolded me, like an adult.

"Okay, so maybe that WAS MY FAULT. But may I ask, why---"

"Jack! There you are!", somebody said. It was Daine.

"W-wait, Daine? You know this guy?"

"Yes. He's our camp buddy, duh!", she rolled her eyes.
