2 The Call

Aboard the Jade Shadow

"You seem a bit distracted son....you ok?" Luke asked Ben who was currently looking off in the distance and talking to himself.

"I'm fine." Ben replied

"Just thinking?

"Yeah, I guess, I still feel really stupid about letting Vestara get to me in all the ways she did. I put so many lives in danger by trusting her. I'm so sorry"

"Ben, like I said and have to keep saying apparently, by the end you weren't the only one who trusted her. She did mean it when she said she wanted to be a Jedi. Till she realized that what I kept saying all along was true. I can promise you that it hurt her to leave you as much as it hurts you for being fooled by her. Not only did she fool you Ben, she outsmarted the whole Jedi order. You have no need to feel upset or discouraged by this. It's called experience. I gained experience from this too son. I afraid if I gain any more experience like this though... I'll turn out to be a grumpy old man like your uncle and Yoda"

Ben half-heartedly smiled at his dad's weak attempt at trying to comfort him. In the end he was played by the girl he loved. It was not a good feeling. He had trusted her till the end, when Jaina told him about her attack on his cousin Allana. Even then he still somewhat trusted her. Then she ran away. So not only was he fooled by thinking she wanted to be a Jedi...he was fooled into thinking she wouldn't run away from a fight....and that somehow he could keep her even if she was in prison. He was stupid for letting her get away. Now she could be out there dead for all he knew. He wished so badly to find her and bring her back. To show her that she could be at home here in the light.

"I think you should get some sleep son...you've been up for a while...almost three days. It's not good for your body to be deprived of sleep. Especially not for the mission we are on."

"Why are we following these Sith into unknown space anyways dad? Doesn't that mean we are going to be lead into a trap?"

"No...I want to see if they might indirectly help us find the item we have been looking for...that might destroy Abeloth forever...and their might be some potential force users in these parts...more kids for the academy."

"Oh...that's right...Dang, I hate thinking she isn't dead. If she comes back then we need..." He paused and thought long and hard about the next words that were about to come out of his mouth...

"Vestara to come back" he finished at last.

"It doesn't need to be Vestara Ben....just a Sith....but if we find this item then we don't need them...just your good old dad."Luke responded to his sons hurt and tried to help but knew he couldn't. His son needed to work this out on his own. He hated the fact that this was true. That Ben had been forced from a younger age to act older than he actually was. No kid should ever go through what he had too. But Ben wasn't always going to have him there to help him and decide for him. He needed to learn on his own.

"I think I'm going to go sleep now."Ben said as he started to get up but was suddenly pushed back by the feeling of someone calling out to him.

"Ben did you feel that?" Luke asked.

He had....someone somewhere was calling them through the force...and they needed their help.
