“You’re amazing!” Kylie said with exhilaration and almost breathlessly. “You’re like one of those secret agents in the television series.”
The bell rang. Times up. And time to go home. Kylie and Stacy walked out of the class, like a boss. They felt great. Their missions, like this one, never failed. Their team work was just amazing, as always.
“And you took the risk of calling Mr. Wyatt as a doctor! So—”
“Shh!” Stacy hushed Kylie while she grabbed her hand and slightly squeezed as they passed Emmy and Stella who were near their lockers. Kylie’s eyes met Emmy’s on the way. Emmy’s evil glare which always fell on her eyes, seemed much more dangerous than before. She was up to something, and Kylie had to figure it out quickly. Or maybe I’m just worrying too much, Kylie thought.
Everything happened very slowly. Everything recalled back into Kylie very gradually; walking pass by Emmy and Stella. Stella, busy unlocking her locker and the glare Emmy gave back at Kylie in a split second as she felt Kylie’s and Stacy’s presence walk by them. Just their presence. Or maybe, only Kylie’s.
And the look in her eyes. She was confused whether it was hatred or just pure evilness born within her. Kylie wasn’t frightened. Just worried. In fact nothing can frighten her. She was stronger than any of those comic book heroes.
Those eyes. Big, brown bulgy eyes, that can exert a pull on any guy and at the same time, express a lot of hatred and anger to anyone who she would be against. Glamorous eyes.
“Kylie!” Stacy yelled and shook Kylie. “Where on earth are you?! Were you even listening to what I was saying?” Stacy asked, sentence after sentence as she stared right at Kylie.
“Oh yeah.” Kylie said, “Yeah, that’s pretty cool.” She said, not sure of what she was talking of and gave a watt-beam.
Stacy rolled her eyes, sucked in her cheeks and slanted onto one leg, letting all her weight pull down on it. She crossed her arms and asked, “What was…cool?” one of her eyebrows went high up while the other rested. She looked gorgeous, even though her posture was a little funny.
“Okay. I’m sorry. I was –”
“What’s bothering you?” Stacy interrupted. There was a moment of slight delay for Kylie to respond immediately. Stacy stared at her, trying to figure out the problem. But she couldn’t.
“Liam.” Kylie said with a sigh and looked away from Stacy. “It’s Liam that’s bothering me.”
“Yeah but how is he –”
“I’m just too afraid that he might get in trouble because of us two, Stace” Kylie started to walk as she carried on with the conversation, “I mean. Emmy, she isn’t in a right mood or something.”
“You can read her mood?” Stacy asked sarcastically.
“Stace, I’m serious. She’s up to something.” She paused, “She gave me that ‘wait and watch’ look while we just passed by her, a minute ago.” Kylie said, while her fingers automatically played along on the key tag of her side of her hand bag.
“She can’t really do anything about it.” Kylie went on, “I mean, Liam, he’s just innocent and Eric beat him up because of me. And, now I’m going to have to take care of that mess.” Kylie said with a sigh as both of them walked out of the school building.
“Not alone sweetheart!” Stacy said with excitement, “I’ll help you kick some asses” she said as she karate kicked and chopped the air like a ninja.
Both of them walked into the office, to get their bicycle padlock keys as they talked about what happened. But something still bothered Kylie as she walked upstairs, passing the counselor, and into the cold air conditioned room where their padlock keys will be held inside on tiny nails pinned onto a black bulletin board.
