Chapter Seven

Chloe Faye; a good looking girl with tan skin and dark brown wavy hair. She got the award for being the “Most Attractive” and the “Most Polite” student in school. Everyone envied her. Especially Emmy and Stella. She was just too nice. And she is one of the closest friend’s of Kylie and Stacy.

Kylie’s jaw dropped. She quickly hid herself behind a big bush, right behind her and watched them like a spy, again. The petite little gorgeous Chloe was actually talking to Liam. No. Way. Kylie’s mind spoke. How come she gets to talk with him?!? It yelled inside. Are they going out?

And Kylie prayed that the last question inside her head was a ‘no’. She watched them carefully.

Chloe gave Liam a piece of paper, and he read it. And then he spoke to her.  And then she smiled back at him and wrote something again on another piece of small pink paper. He read it again and smiled back and said something back at her. Both of them laughed.

 ****

Chloe; someone who’s cute enough to get any guy’s attention. She’s a real sweetheart. Everyone loves her. She even knows Emmy more than Stella for some reason. Maybe they were childhood friends? You never know. Chloe has a sister, who’s already out of high school and in college. Name’s  Aspen Faye. Gorgeous and just too mysterious. Just like Chloe even though she’s preppy and friendlier than her sister. “The mysterious Faye family” Kylie said in her head.

Chloe is not tall, neither too short. She’s the right size actually, and she can look good in anything, wear heels of any type and look flawless and completely; stunning. And also a very talented girl; a straight A student, a pianist, a cheerleader and also a tennis player. “That’s all I know, too” Kylie said in her head, again. Yet somehow, Kylie finds her a little mysterious; and what she witnessed adds double to the mystery…Chloe and Liam, hanging around together!

She’s hanging around with the person who never even says a word at school!

“I need to go and confront them. Now.” Kylie said as she stood up from her hiding spot. “No wait. Maybe I’ll sneak around to see where they go and what they’re doing?” She hid behind the bush again. Her thoughts were changing.

No. You can’t be limping around with a sore tummy and all those bruises all over you!’ Her mind yelled.

‘Shut. Up.’  She yelled back. And then there was silence in her head.

“I know what to do.” Kylie said as she snapped her fingers and took her cell phone out from her jean pocket. She slightly stood up with her phone; yes she had the camera on.

Kylie quickly zoomed in to take a photo of Liam and Chloe standing outside, talking, giggling and laughing.

“Just one click and that’s all I need baby—” A bus blocked the view for five seconds.

“Darn it! Move!” Kylie whispered loud. She eagerly waited till it left, moving her head from side to side to see if there’s another angle to get a shot from. The bus left, and they were gone.

“That was so quick! Five seconds and gone! What the hell!” Kylie yelled, feeling disappointed for missing a golden chance.

“Well. Time to sneak into my house I guess.” She said as she walked in front of the front door.

****

Kylie walked in. Her parents were busy in their own work; mum doing the dishes, dad reading a newspaper and …her little brother, Rufus Delane Asher, who's only a year younger than her.

“Kylie.” Rufus called out.

“What?”

“You’re so late.”

“You got a problem?” She said, annoyed.

“Just worried.” He said, a little softly.

Kylie’s reaction immediately changed. ‘He was worried! About me!’ She cried inside. But she gave a quick slight smile before he saw it.

“Good night.” She replied back, softly. But no one hardly heard it, except for Rufus maybe, since he turned back mumbling something like, “You too.”

Kylie jogged upstairs, without making much noise, hoping not to distract her parents and make them aware that she came home late. She opened the door, and sat down on her bed. Then she looked around her purple-themed room. Purple drapes, purple bed, black desk, black files, black cabinet, purple carpet, white cupboard and a white ceiling with four yellow circle lights. One light aimed onto her bed, the other aimed onto her desk/study table, the third one aimed at her dressing table and the last aimed close to her balcony slide door. And the neatest thing about Kylie’s room is; sticky notes, stacked on every side of her wall, here and there as if a tornado just entered into her room.

And on her bed, there’s a pile of clothes, which was taken out every morning when she rushes through her cupboard.  Kylie was too exhausted to clean that mess up. Instead, she grabbed all of it and kept it on her desk chair.

“The bed’s clean now.” She said with a big grin on her face that only lasted for a second, and then she dropped onto her bed. Stretching her arms and legs wide apart on her bed, Kylie looked up at the ceiling. She started recalling back everything that happened today. Class periods, lunch break, Liam and —, Liam. Her flashback just slows down every time she recalls his face. She just doesn’t know why.  And then, the fight, Eric, Emmy running, Liam curled up and bleeding — a pause.

Kylie shut her eyes tightly. “No no no no no! Ugh, get out of my head Liam!” She said firmly with her teeth gritted. And it worked, luckily. Then she recalled, Eric. Eric and her, alone. The spark in his eyes, his smirk, his smile. His touch. Eric would’ve been her choice if he would stop being too “swaggy” and a jerk.  Kylie let out a sigh.  She watched the ceiling fan rotate slowly.

And then her flashback began again. How she passed notes with Stacy during the class after the ‘mission’. And then seeing Liam in the office, looking for his padlock keys—

Her mind froze.  She had enough. She didn’t want to think about the ‘mysterious guy’. She felt just too uneasy about it. She didn’t know what was wrong with her.  Kylie sat on her bed. She stared down at the purple carpet, as she tried to forget how Liam even looked like. It was creeping her out for no reason.

She slightly raised her gaze towards the dressing table which had a square mirror attached. And she saw herself, with cuts, and bruises all over, making her look swollen and red. She stared into herself, which brought back the moment when she was in a fight today. The sudden punch. Emmy’s fierce eyes. Stacy knocked down and curled up. Fists clutched with anger, ready to fight. Yells. Swears. Punches. Kylie felt the pain in her stomach again. Her bruises were starting to hurt again.

Knock downs. Stella’s pretty face, pretty hair. Pretty white silky hair. Cuts. Punches. More punches. Emmy’s evil smirk. Gasp for air.  More blows. Short of breath.

Kylie’s pain was back. She had forgotten about it all this time.

But the fight was merciless.

“Nathan’s my guardian angel.” Kylie said as she lay back on her bed again. “He saved us; he saved me

Kylie shut her tired eyes.

“I need to give the recording to Mr. Irwin.” Kylie just remembered, as her eyes opened in a sudden.
