"We've been in this dump for six years. Did you hear me? Six Years. Six years of our lives wasted. Six years of hatred. Six ye—"
"I get it,"snapped May interrupting Zack."But did it ever occur to you that we have no place to go? That we can't just stay in the streets? Huh?"
Zack stared into May's eyes and shook his head. May, with the satisfaction of being correct, gave a little empowering smirk to Zack before she dumped her left-overs.
"Why are we even in these anyway?"asked May, when she sat back down.
"Some family is probably coming today. I'm going to be rejected..as usual"whined Tommy.
"It's ok. So are all of us"

The Monster came into the cafeteria, who deafened us once again with some news.
"LISTEN, CHILDREN. THE ONLY REASON YOUR WEARING SPECIAL OUTFITS TODAY IS BECAUSE THERE IS GOING TO BE A COUPLE IN HERE THIS AFTERNOON. I HAVE NO JDEA WHY PEOPLE WOULD WANT YOU BUT THEY'RE COMING SO I NEED YOU ON YOUR BEST BEHAVIOR. THE PUNISHMENT WILL BE IF YOU MISBEHAVE  YOU WILL DO EVERYONES CHORES FOR A WEEK AND YOU'LL GET WHIPPED. IF YOU WERE SMART YOU'D DO WHAT YOU WERE TOLD."

After breakfast, we got to start our chores. I was on kitchen duty, again. Washing the dishes, I turned on the radio.
"And now that I'm without your kisses I'll be needing stitches," blared the loud radio. I could hear, from a distance, the heavy footsteps of The Monster. I quickly turned down the volume and as Britana walked by, I gave a weak smile.
"Finish those dishes. NOW."snarled Britana. She sat on a stool in front of the sink and watched me. While we were both there, I decided to make some small talk.
"How's your day so far?" I asked.
"Why do care? Get that done."
"I know but I want to get to know you more"
"Why? I don't like people knowing my business"'
"Ok"
I looked at Britana, who tried hiding a smile while she looked down. There was a long silence before Britana broke it.
"Why do so many people hate me?" she asked. I dried off my arms and sat next to her.
"Well..I think it's because your too strict, maybe? I assume you were raised that way. That's why your so strict."
She look at me bewildered then angry. Britana stood up from her stool and stormed out the door. I muttered some undignified words under my breath and was preparing myself for the next chore.

Once the chores were done, we were to immediately report to our rooms. Zack and Tommy's room was above our so we could sneak up there whenever. There was a soft knock at the door and I instantly thought, This is NOT Britana. It can't be, I thought. I opened the door and into the room entered a young woman and man along with Britana. They looked 20 and were holding hands. She gave me and May a sweet smile.
"Look, Mark, how gorgeous these girls are"beamed the woman.
Mark smiled too, nodding his head in agreement. The woman looked at us and gave us a hug.
"How would you like to be my daughters?"smiled the woman. I looked at May but she didn't acknowledge my glance, she was too busy thinking about the woman's request.
"Ma'am..the both of us?"questioned May. Nodding, the woman smiled once again.
"Of course! I'd lo—"
"Can you take our friends, Tommy and Zack too? We've known each other for six years and we've grown
close. We are family and we can't be apart. Please?"I interrupted. The woman glanced at Mark.
"Stacey, four kids? I don't know.."
Stacey, the woman, looked at May and me again.
"Hopefully, you'll find the perfect parents,"she smiled, dewy-eyed. One last hug and Stacey and Mark were out the door. May stared at me.
"I wanna be mad at you for blowing that but I can't. We do need to be together,"said May quietly closing the door. I nodded in agreement and out of the blue, I blurted out,"I have a plan."
