Hunter x Chimera Ants

Chapter 1

They silently stared at the person sitting against the tree, fishing.

"G-Ging," Gon whispered as he took a step forward, his foot crunching in the snow. The guy turned his eyes on them and began standing up. He dropped the pole and appeared in front of them, knocking the three to the side. He conjured up a slot machine in his hand.

"I got a slot machine in my mouth! It goes from one to nine. Each number summons a different weapon. This is my Crazy Slots! Give me something good..." Numbers turned in its mouth. "Four!" A rifle formed, and the man grabbed it.

"Damn, bad roll...," he said. He pointed the gun at Kiyoko.

"Shut up! You should be grateful, you idiot!" the clown replied. Killua dove towards Kiyoko, and they slid out of the way as the man began shooting. He shot at an ant hill, and Kiyoko glanced towards a Chimera Ants body as it landed next to her head. She looked up at Killua who was hovering over her from the dive.

"An ant?" Killua asked confused.

"Are you hurt?" the man asked walking towards them as Gon slid down next to them. Kiyoko sat up in front of Killua. The man threw off the cloak that was hiding his face.

"That isn't Ging...," Gon said.

"Hey... What was that about?" Killua asked. "First you push us down, then you fire at us! Enough fooling around!"

"Fooling around? I was being dead serious. If I hadn't opened fire, you would have been attacked," he replied.

"By what?! The ant you shot?" Killua stood up and went to stomp on it, but Kiyoko pushed him away.

"Don't! It's a Chimera Ant!" she shouted as the top half of its body jumped at her and bit her leg. She winced. "Ow!"

"Idiot!" the man shouted as Kiyoko fell back on her butt. He knocked the Chimera Ant away with his hat and then shot it. Blood ran down her leg. "You're correct. That was a Chimera Ant."

"A Chimera Ant?" Killua asked.

"An aggressive, carnivorous insect, currently under class one warranty. From time to time, they even attack humans," he explained. "You were standing right in front of their nest. Had I not fired, a Chimera Ant army would have consumed you by now."

"I feel like this has happened before," Gon said.

"Same here," Kiyoko said. The man walked over to Kiyoko and crouched down to look at the bite.

"Don't worry, it's not serious. Apply this. It's an antibiotic."

"What? That's it?" the clown asked. "Let's go nuts, man!"

"Shut up... Go away." The clown disappeared. "You should leave, as well." The man stood up. "Damn... Because of this interruption, I'll need to start over again. But the nest was destroyed. Man, forced to take another life..."

"Ah!" Gon and Kiyoko said in realization and the man stopped and glanced back at them.

"Weren't you the guy that killed those Nen using thieves to save me back then?" Kiyoko asked touching her cheek where he had punched her for going into a back ally way alone during the night.

"Are you... Are you the one who saved me back then?" Gon asked.

"Back then?" the man asked turning to face them.

"On Whale Island, after I stumbled into the territory of a foxbear with its cub."

"And when I went into a back ally way by myself at nighttime. I don't remember where that was though..."
