Chapitre 6 - Tainted Love

We were walking deeper and deeper into the forest, making our way to the hot spring. Everyone was carrying a basket filled with food, liquor and towels to bring the party with us. It was getting late, and a surprisingly cold dew was welcoming my bare legs because of the pleated short I put on for our night out. Scarlett was snuggling close, letting her body draw warmth from mine and hugging my arm like her life depended on it. Because her body constitution wasn't as strong as ours, she had an additional backpack that contained a thick blanket for after the swim.

Scarlett smiled when she noticed the attention I was giving her. She looked back at me and waggled her eyebrows in a very exaggerated way. "Sweetheart, stop staring at me like that. Unless you want something from me?" She smiled big. What an idiot.

"Ha-ha-ha. Very funny." I bumped her shoulder playfully.

"Well... It was to me." Her small laugh was contagious and made me smile widely.

"Not just funny since your blush was quite an intense color." I winked.

"Don't be so full of yourself, it's still an act after all."

I was confused as to why she was whispering, until I felt someone's eyes burning holes in my back. I didn't have to turn around to know who it was.

I impulsively took the opportunity to catch Scarlett's lips in mine, to make Kiera even more irritated and jealous dared I say. It didn't take long for the brunette to melt into the kiss as she was gently cupping the curve of my jaw.

Since I was busy kissing her, I missed the small hole forming in front of me. I felt myself falling forward, dragging my squealing girlfriend with me. Fortunately, because of my good reflexes, I wrapped my arms around her shoulders and turn my back to the ground as she landed on me.

"Ouch! What the... Are you okay?" She pushed herself slightly up.

"Yeah, no biggie." I gave her a closed mouth smile. "Sorry. I wasn't paying attention, and fell right in a hole."

"Then pay attention next time Miss head-in-the-clouds." Scarlett giggled and got off me. Once up she kindly extended her hand to help me on my feet.

"You would've rather I stopped kissing you?" I took her hand. "Unbelievable." She mumbled.

To be honest it was fun being with her like that, more than I would've imagined. I thought it was going to be awkward and the act, like she said, not at all convincing. But somehow, it worked. We made it so believable that no one in the pack even found it strange, not even my parents when they got wind of it from - most likely - Angus.

When I looked around, Kiera wasn't there anymore. She should've joined Matt, Ryon and Jared in the front, leaving us the last persons behind. I knew the hole was her doing. She probably used her power out of anger. Which I was oddly pleased about.

Scarlett motioned for us to keep going when suddenly, some big hand strongly grabbed my shoulder taking me by surprise. The form has meddled between us unnoticed, and I was ready to attack until I realized it was only Jared.

"Jesus!" Scarlett yelped.

"Jared!! Stop sneaking up on people like this, it's creepy as hell." I got out of his grip and so did Scar.

"What? Am I not allowed to prank my friends Blaize?" He retorted with a tight smile.

"Yeah, but not using your incubus thing on us. I almost punched you in the face!" I slapped his shoulder.

"What's the purpose of getting new powers if not using them? Plus, pranking you is almost impossible without them." Jared complained, his smile never leaving his lips.
