Chapter 6

Riker POV

"Riker!"

"What?"

"I'm scared!"

"I know. Just keep going, ok?"

"I'm trying!"

"Lexi, please don't cry!"

"I can't help it!"

I stopped moving, and found Lexi's hand in the dark.

"Lexi, please. You need to hold it together. I'm trying to hold it together! And if you start crying, I'll start crying, and I'll start panicking, and..."

I took some breaths.

"Let's just keep going, ok?"

"Ok, Riker."

I kept moving. I felt something brush against my face. It felt exactly like a spiderweb.

"AHHH!"

"Riker!?"

I banged my head really hard against the top of the vent.

"OW!"

"Riker!?"

"Get it off!"

"What!?"

"Spiders!"

I swatted at my face, trying to get the web off. Running into a spiderweb in complete darkness might be one of the scariest things ever.

"I think I got it..." I said, kind of embarrassed.

"Let's just get out of here."

I kept moving forward until my hands hit something in front of me.

"Why did you stop moving?"

"Um... Oh. Hold on..."

"What!?"

"We can either go right or left. I'm trying to decide."

"Go right."

"Why?"

"I don't know!"

I rolled my eyes.

"Lexi, we can't just randomly pick one!"

"Well how else are we going to pick?"

"Fine. We'll go right..."

I turned right, and heard Lexi moving behind me again. We kept moving, and I hit another wall. It was just a turn, and there was a little bit of light down at the other end of the tunnel.

"There's a turn. Be careful."

We got closer to the light, and there was a grate. And it lead to some other room.

"What is that?" Lexi whispered.

"Our way out."

I pulled at the grate, and it came loose. I looked out, and realized we were up in the air. The vent we were in was about 7 feet above the floor in this room. It looked like a custodial closet or something.

"Well are we going to get out of here!?" Lexi whispered.

"Uh... Yeah. Give me a minute..."

Lexi moved so she was next to me.

"Oh... I see the problem..."

"Yeah..."

"Well there's only one thing to do..."
