CHAPTER ONE
❝GRACELESS DEATH❞

"It's late," Jenna proclaimed. "You two should probably come inside."

Elektra nodded quickly, before storming inside in a desperate need to get away from Elena and Damon's hormones. A stinging sensation flared up in her chest; anger. She couldn't believe that her own sister would pose as her just so she could kiss Damon - that bitch, she thought. Elena's betrayal of pretending to be her overruled her own betrayal of kissing Elena's boyfriend.

"What are you doing, Elektra?" Jenna asked as soon as the front door was closed.

Elena slowly turned around to face their aunt, knowing that she needed to keep up the façade long enough until Jenna left. "I don't want to talk about it."

Jenna then went on to explain that she needed to go to their father's building and talk to the fire department, seeing as though Grayson had left everything to her. Elena set her bag down on the couch, stuffing her hands in her jacket pockets as she turned toward Elektra.

"Elektra, I'm sorry-"

Elektra held her hands up to stop her from continuing. "If you're really going to delve into the detailed explanation as to why you were posing as me, then I'm gonna need an aspirin - maybe two."

"Yeah, okay," Elena replied quietly. "I need to change out of these clothes anyway."

"Okay," Elektra mumbled awkwardly, backing away from her sister and walked up the stairs with Elena following right behind her, but when they reached the main hallway on the second floor, she turned right while Elena turned left. She rolled her eyes, still feeling the rage coursing through her veins as she went over to her bedside table. She opened it, grabbing the bottle of Tylenol before removing the lid and taking out two white pills.

She grabbed the empty glass on the table, walked into the bathroom and filled it up before she threw the pills in her mouth and drank them down. She faintly heard Elena's feet pitter-pattering down the stairs; when she looked up in the bathroom mirror, she instantly regretted it. Her tight curls were now tangled and matted due to the amount of rolling on the ground in pain she had done earlier, there was dried blood crusted around her right nostril, and mascara was smudged underneath her eyes.

Her hands met the water in the filled sink, quickly drenching her face with it, trying to get off the traces of eyeliner and mascara and blood. She wasn't even in the privacy of her own bathroom for forty five seconds before she heard Elena crying out.

"Elektra!"

"What?" Elektra shouted back, turning off the tap and trudged out of her room, plopping down the stairs. Elena stood there at the end of the stairs with a frightened look on her face. The anger in her blood quickly melted into fear. "What's wrong?"

"I think there's someone in the house."

"What do you mean?" Elektra questioned, descending down the last few steps with caution, knowing that if there really was someone in the house that they needed to be as quiet and stealthy as possible.

Elena ran her hands through her hair irritably, "What I mean is, I think there's someone in the house."

Elektra had to fight off the urge to roll her eyes at her sister's snarky comment, moving in front of Elena before walking toward the kitchen. As she approached the kitchen, she felt Elena's hand grab a hold of the back of her shirt, needing the physical tether to keep herself calm as she followed her twin. When they finally came in view of the kitchen, they immediately wished they had stayed away. John was lying on the floor, hands pressed against his lower abdomen, his breathing was labored into panting gasps.
