In the dark corners of the street you will never see fit that a man with cat ears and a cat tail is bolting from a scene.
You would never guess that this boy was running not to something, but from someone.
This boy, bolting like an athlete in style. His feet, always in rhythm. His arms kept at his sides at an angle where he pushed himself to an unknown destination. He eyes, filled with determination, and fear.
The time was pasted twelve. But of course this Neko didn't keep track of time, he never could. He would watch the sun rise and fall and yet he hasn't seen a clock in ages.
The streets were dark, and very quiet. In the town of Carson, Mississippi it is always quiet. But it was if the lucks were with the Neko tonight. The streets were extra quiet. No one in site. He was completely hidden into the dark.
The Neko's breath quicken and got unsteady. He couldn't run forever. But this was the last time running. He never wanted to be trapped again. He never wanted to even look in those dark brown eyes ever again.
His ankles aced and his lungs burned. He has never pushed himself so hard in his life. But then again this is all he ever wanted.
Rain pored onto his hair, covering his sweated face and clothing. It was his that his luck that kept his sweating body perfectly in balance. That way he could run more.
The Neko's ears picked up the pacing of running behind him. His eyes sparked in fear.
His eyes snapped over to a latter, leader to a series of apartment. Or as we call it, a fire escape.
He picked up his speed at full pace and used all his strength to leap himself to the latter located 4 feet above him.
His hands reached the cold bar and clutched it with all his might. Trying to keep his hands from slipping off the wet, cold bars, he pulled himself up. Quickly, one foot after the other, he took off up the latter.
This may be no surprise. This guy is half cat. It's not weird for him to be able to jump high and keep his balance.
Neko's ears went off every second. Although his chaser was about 1/2 a mile away, one slip up and he could fall back in their clutches.
The rain only got harder. He got colder. He couldn't feel his hands after climbing those bars. His breath was visible and it was shaky.
He reached the top of the building, soaked in the rain. His heart pounding out of his chest.
He backed up as much as he could till the fact he was crushed against the railing.
He took a deep breath, his ears flicking in the rain. As much as he hated water, it was saving him right now. That numbing sensation was the one thing that made him seem he could never stop. Like he was invincible. But the Neko has his limits. If he were to push past it then he surely wouldn't be able to live.
Without thinking he bolted as fast as he could and leaped up. His fingertips barely being able to grab hold of the drain pipe on the roof.
He again hoisted himself up. But this time it was on the roof. And he was up very high. It didn't bother him.
He sightly heard the shouting of a voice. One that he has gotten very used to. But one that he never wanted to hear again.
He slowly hissed under his breath.
He took a running position. And slightly looked at his destination.
The other roof.
There was no other way. Humans usually couldn't jump that length. Not to mention their cowardliness. But falling from this hight could kill. And it's not true that cats have 9 lives.
He had no time to fear. He knew that by believing He could accomplish anything. Closing his eyes he ran to the edge without thinking.
He jumped with all his might to the other side. For those few seconds he felt nothing but air. The fresh, sweet, air. He felt free.
He landed harsh and almost tore away the skin from his ankle, he whined in pain.
But now wasn't the time for pain. He needed to keep going.
He kept on for more then four roofs. By then his ankle was bleeding out so bad, and his breath was as if breathing threw a straw.
He stood on the fifth roof and listened for the sounds that were picked up by the wind.
It was silent.
Dead silent.
He got to the right edge of the roof and jumped down to the first fire escape.
His clothes were now so wet that it was like he fully dunked himself into a stream. He was cold, hungry, and bleeding.
Fixing his soaking wet beanie on over his ears, he slowly and carefully got down off the building.
After he got down his breath caught.
He was sobbing.
But not because he was sad, but because we was so desperately happy. He was free. He never had to fear her clutches anymore.
His ankle was now I'm a puddle of blood blow him. He sat down and leaned against the wall of the building. The floods of water mixing with his blood.
He slowly closed his eyes.
He didn't care if he was dying right now. He didn't care if he would bleed out.
He was free. He would never see those eyes again.
In fact although he was facing a lot of pain and bleeding out, he was still smiling, he was happy.
His head tilted up and took a deep breath.
"Free...."
With his husky, tired voice, he black out.
