Stiles was very calm. Or at least on the outside he was. He was waiting for his father. Derek had called the Sheriffs department and reported the mugging.
So his father the Sheriff had been notified and was probably speeding his way here. Stiles had refused to let Derek call for an ambulance for his scrapes. His hands stung along with his arms and his back. Derek had gotten his cane and handed it to him.
Stiles had tried to walk out of the ally but his ankle was hurting him and it threw off his balance so he began to fall.
Derek had gathered him in his arms and actually picked him up and carried him to his Camaro that was parked on the street in a parking spot. He had opened his car door and sat him in the passenger seat carefully and then kept his hand on Stiles knee or arm or shoulder the entire time.
It might have been because Stiles had a death grip on the bottom of Derek's shirt. He wasn't shaking or crying anymore. He had pulled himself together but he just couldn't let go of that soft cotton. It was still warm from Derek's body heat.
"I saw his face. I am going to tell your father that I will help in any way I can Stiles. I'll sit with a sketch artist or look at perp photos. Whatever it takes." Derek's voice was calm. Stiles was glad that Derek was calm.
Scott would have panicked and his father would be an emotional mess. But Derek had been great. It was a bit embarrassing to be carried but he had actually thanked him after.
"Stiles. Are you sure you are okay?" Derek asked quietly. His hand was on the top of Stiles arm. His hand was so warm.
"I'm fine." Stiles said with his eyes closed. He was trying to shut out everything. Kind of ridiculous since he was blind. But it helped. He wasn't really fine. His phone was gone. The only thing that kept him connected to his family and friends and helped him to go to sleep with that ambient sound app he loved. The app that made his phone listen to his voice commands and talk back to him. It had all his contacts in it.
He knew it was stupid. It was just a phone. But it had made his life easier. He could deal with his wallet being taken. All it had was his ID, 40 bucks and an emergency condom in it. He didn't use a credit card since he got scammed by two different people just because he couldn't see the machine.
There was a soft touch to his shoulder. Derek was trying to comfort him. "I got mugged in New York 3 times. I even got a scar from the knife the third guy was waiving at me."
"Really?" Stiles opened his eyes asking him in surprise. "But you're like a big guy."
"That doesn't mean that I can't get scared Stiles." Derek replies honestly.
There was a tense silence.
Stiles closed his eyes again.
"I was scared when I saw you on the ground." Derek barely whispered.
Stiles opened his eyes and lifted his head. He frowned a bit. "Why?"
Another tense silence.
Then the hand on his shoulder squeezed just a bit. "I was scared that he had hurt you..."
Stiles felt his face heat up. He was about to say something with sirens were heard speeding towards them. "That would be my dad."
The sirens shut off as the car came to a stop behind them. Stiles heard his father calling out. "Stiles! Son!" Then he was suddenly being pulled into strong arms that were gripping him in a shaking hold.
