“This is the start of something beautiful,

This is the start of something new…”

-Ed Sheeran (This)

Rhyet pulled his hand off my cheek and dropped it to his lap, I followed suit with my hand that had been tangled in his hair. “You should really go get ready. We need to get going soon.” He nodded over to two suitcases. He’d obviously grabbed my stuff. Imagining him going through my room was odd, but I didn’t mind that much…

“Going? I need to call my mom!” I was shocked.

Putting a hand on both of my shoulders, he explained “Lacey, your mom knows about this all. I didn’t just steal you from the school.” He chuckled a little. I blushed realizing that’s what I had thought happened. “We are going to Setlia and she knows. She was shocked Omrey had sent me to come get you, but none the less, she knows.”

“He sent you?” I asked then regretted it, obviously he sent him to come get me otherwise I wouldn’t be here.

“Ya, he sent me.” Rhyet nodded looking at the floor and running his hand through his hair again

I had so many more questions for him, but he’d told me a lot for now so I’d have to ask him later. From what it sounded like we had a while. Getting up, I walked over to the bigger of the two. I found half my wardrobe packed neatly into it. I found a pair of leggings and a cotton sweater then opened the zipper holding all my intimates. I grabbed a pair of underwear and a sports bra, tucking them under my clothes hoping he didn’t see, which in reality is senseless because he obviously packed it, but it just didn’t feel right.

I headed over to the bathroom and twisted the shower on. I saw my toiletry bag neatly placed on the counter and grabbed it, throwing it in the shower. The water took a minute to heat up but then I got in. I wetted down my hair and began washing it. A small sob escaped my throat. How could I be doing something so normal, when I had just been told everything I had?

The sobs then erupted to tears violently falling down my face. Thank god for the cover of the waters noises, otherwise Rhyet would have heard me crying. I hated how much of a mess this was. My life was not what I had thought it was in anyway. I was in a hotel with a complete stranger and I trusted him! I had been crying non-stop for the last day. What the hell was wrong with me…?

Eventually I had cried myself out and I hopped out of the warm shower into the steamy hotel bathroom. I grabbed a plush towel from above the toilet and wrapped myself in it, drying my body off. Even this though seemed like too much for my mentally exhausted self, so I sat on the toilet lid with my elbows on my knees and my head in my hands.

After probably twenty minutes of sitting there, I heard a knock on the door. “Lacey?” Rhyet asked sounding a little confused again.

“Ya, just a minute” I replied finally snapping back into things finally. Quickly standing up, my head pounded, reminding me of my concussion. I winced, but keep going and threw on my leggings and sports bra then my hoodie and whipped open the door. “Yes?” I asked

He laughed a little then went on, “We need to get going, it’s a long drive.”

“Where exactly are we?” I wondered, I had been looking for give away, but nothing had helped me in trying to figure it out.

“North Dakota. We will stop in West Virgina tonight and we will be in Setlia late tomorrow night.” He explained the trip.

I was shocked that I’d be there tomorrow night. That seemed odd to me, that’d I would be home in a matter of a little more than a day. That I would meet my dad for what he actually is, not the things I had been taught to remember.
