Blood.
I lunge towards Damian, knocking us both off of our feet and cutting off his sentence. My fangs were out and I was snarling fiercely, trying to pierce his neck.
"Love, are you alright?" He asks sweetly, completely oblivious that I was trying to eat him. That snaps me out of my vampiric trance. My fangs retract and I heave myself off of Damian. I mumble, "Sorry, I just need blood."
"Okay. Would you like mine?" He asks sweetly.
I stand and help Damian onto his feet. "No." I sigh, "Come on, let's go to the kitchen."
I begin to leave the fighting room, Damian trailing me like a lost puppy. Simon walks out cautiously as we make our way towards the kitchen.
Instantly Damian's eyes go from the ice cold silver color to the fierce blazing gold. He snarls out, pushing me behind him. "Mine!" He hisses.
I put a hand on his shoulder and push him back behind me, rolling my own eyes. "That is my cousin! He will not hurt me or take me from you!" I return my walk towards the kitchen as Damian glares at Simon.
Simon quickly scuttles away, towards the other kitchen entrance. I meet him in the kitchen with Damian tense and poised behind me.
I take a pint of blood from the refrigerator and pour myself a glass. I drink it down as if it was milk, sighing pleasurably.
"Why is he following you around like he is YOUR pet and not the other way around?" Simon asks, his eyes pin-pointed onto Damian.
Damian snarls and Simon takes a step back from me.
I groan, "Turns out lover boy didn't have a mate yet."
Simon perks up. "Wait what?!"
"You heard me!" I snap. I take a deep breath and apologies. "Sorry, didn't mean to snap at you."
Simon shrugs, slowly getting used to the growling Damian by my side, "Your vampiric side is feisty. I got that."
"No! It isn't!" I hiss. I take another deep breath, "Yes. You are right. Another flaw of mine, over-protection and dominance and feistiness of my vampiric side. Yipeee!"
I pour another cup and drink down the thick liquid. Surprisingly it tasted only slightly sweeter than milk. I could feel my inner huntress quieting down. Her teeth were shielded and she was now just pacing around.
"Better?" Simon asks, crossing his arms.
I nod and close my eyes. Silence envelops us.
Simon asks, "So Damian. Why did you sleep with Selina?"
Damian eyes slide to me and I nod my head, though fearful of the answer. What if he doesn't remember why? What if it is because he actually loves her? What if—
"I had to protect Catelyn." Damian answers.
Silence again.
"What do you mean by 'protect Catelyn'." My tone rises and my inner huntress' teeth return.
Damian looks to me, "Selina said that she would hurt you if I didn't be with her and do everything she says." He furrows his eyebrows, "I am getting hazy memories of laughing at my favorite people though inside I was crying... I-I-I think there was a big black dragon that saved my friends from her magic, but I do not remember. Who is Selina again?"
