"Mother?" I said.

"Yes dear?" My mom turned around momentarily to look at me.

"Why are you doing this to me?" I groaned.

"Oh please Melody with the way you act you'll need a babysitter your whole life." She answered.

"WHY WONT YOU LOVE ME?!" I got on the floor and gripped her ankles dramatically. "IM A GOOD CHILD."

"Get off me you freak." I hissed at her and got off the floor, sitting back down at the kitchen table.

"But seriously mom, why? Liiiike I have no friends so what am I gonna do that's so awful?"

"Oh really Mel? No friends? Last time I was gone you threw a party and someone broke my 50,000 vase! There's no way in hell I'm leaving you alone."

"Fine," I sighed. "Fair enough. But can you at least tell me who's going to be watching over me like a hawk for the next two weeks?"

"That boy from down the street."

I gave her a dumbfounded look. "What boy down the street?" I asked.

"The blonde one who lives in that tan house at the end of the street, his names Matthew."

"He must not be cute because if there was a cute blonde boy down the street I'd DEFINITELY know who he was." I smirked, making my mom sigh at me.

"He's coming at 10 tomorrow morning."

"SANTAAAAA OH MY GOD!" I yelled.

"Jesus Christ Melody why was that necessary?" My mom said in an irritated voice, rubbing her forehead.

"It's from Elf. You know, 10 am, Santa's coming to town." I answered.

"I hate that movie." She replied. I ran over to her and got in her face.

"BUDDY THE ELF WHATS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?" I yelled.

"Melody stop it!"

"THE BEST WAY TO SPREAD CHRISTMAS CHEER IS SINGING LOUD FOR ALL TO HEAR!"

"MELODY SHUT UP!"

"Ooo," I grimaced at her loud tone, sitting back down at the table. I waited a few seconds until speaking again. "He's an angry elf."

"I'm gonna kill you." She said, making me laugh.

"What are you making?" I asked.

"Guacamole." She replied.

"Peel the avocadooooo, gua-camole, guaaaaa-camole." I sang.

"Isn't it past your bedtime?" She asked. I turned to her with a dumbfounded look.

"It's 6 o'clock." I replied.

"If you're gonna act 6, you can go to bed at 6." She said with sass.

"Whatever. I'm tired anyways. Goodbye." I walked up to my room and shut my door behind me before laying down on my bed.

I can't believe she got me a babysitter while her and her boyfriend go to Bora Bora. It's so not fair. I get to spend Christmas alone because they want to 'rekindle their love' as my mom stated it. And we all know that's code for baby making. I guess I'll be an older sibling soon instead of the only child. They come back from their vacation on January 3rd, and today it's December 20th.

Wait a second...

If there's a boy down the street babysitting me and my mom hired him, that means he's probably my age.

Oh my god.

THATS SO EMBARRASSING. IM GONNA CRY.

I could always sneak away tonight and journey to a far away land, preferably Mexico? Yeah Mexico works. You'll never find me there mom. HAHA!

I hope these 2 and a half weeks goes by quickly, because I don't think I can take a whole 14 and something days with a nerdy guy who likes to babysit people his age. What a freak.
