I can feel Xanders eyes on me as I lead him to English, they're burning holes through my clothes.
Once we get there I walk in and get to my normal seat near the back. There's a seat open behind me and he chooses to sit there.
I ignore him until the bell rings and the teacher walks in. My English teacher is a good looking man of about late 20's and all the girls act like desperate whores around him.
"Good morning class." Mr. Aldaine says. The girls all sigh, ugh. "It looks like we have a new student. Xander please stand and say something about yourself."
Xander stands. "Hey, uh I moved here from Boston and I like to read." he sits back down.
Where was the cocky and confident guy from earlier? Maybe he's big on acting too...
Of course all the girls are eye- balling him.
"Okay class, we are going to pick back up reading Jane Eyre today. I will get you a book Mr. Knight."
Hmmm strange last name.
The rest of class goes by quickly and I gather up my things after the bell sounds. I rush up to Mr. Aldaine and hand him my classwork paper.
"Thank you, Ash." he smiles at me. I nod and turn to go. "Oh and Ash?" I turn back around. "That paper you handed in the other day was excellent. You made me see a whole other side to the topic. I couldn't get enough." he grins even wider at me.
"Oh uhm thank you Sir." I say quietly and make a quick get away. Talking to him makes me uncomfortable. He compliments all of my work and I never get any bad marks in his class. I feel like I got special treatment for some reason. No one else in the class had a perfect mark. I'm not even that smart...
I rush to my art class and find that Xander is standing in the hall waiting for me.
Sighing I lead him there in silence.
In art he sits next to me because I was the only one without a partner before.
I pull out my sketchbook and begin on the assignment on the board. I have to draw something that has caused me pain. I start to draw a tree.
I once climbed a tree and no one would help me down. So I fell. And broke my wrist. To this day forward trees freak me out. Not to mention how creepy they look when they're leaf-less. Dead and hollow like me.
I don't know what Xander drew I didn't look even though I could feel his stare burning into me.
When will this day be over?
The rest of the day actually went pretty fast. I was able to hide at lunch and the last 2 classes I didn't have with him.
Why is he even bothering with me? I'm not special, I only have one friend. I have a miserable life. I don't want him to follow me around. As I was leaving though, he did say goodbye.
I didn't say anything, as always.
