Summer shivered slightly as Winter whistled under his breath. He was giving out a strange, cold aura. She slid further away from him, trying to ignore the chill and focus on lessons.
But she just couldn't help but notice that Winter was staring at her. Again. For the fifth time that day. She whipped her head to face him, trying to avoid looking into his gorgeous sapphire blue eyes.
"Do you mind?" She hissed. "I can't concentrate with you staring at me all the time!" Winter's mouth twitched at the corners.
"Oh really?" He smiled. Summer's heart did a leap and she quickly dropped her gaze, blushing madly.
"F-forget it..." she muttered, looking away.
Winter let out a faint chuckle and resumed whistling. Mdm Justifer was teaching about the historical people of Armandia. "There were two people who were particularly powerful. Who can tell me who they were?" She asked. No one answered. For the boys, they were busy casting admiring glances over their shoulders towards Winter. As for the girls, all of them were writing love letters. To Winter.
"AHEM," Mdm Justifer said crossly. Still everyone ignored her. She muttered something furiously then gestured for Winter to stand up, who apparently had taken an interest in staring out the window.
"Mr Winter, I wonder if you can tell us the answer to my question?" Mdm Justifer said sharply. Winter blinked at her, but didn't stand.
"Spring Gardenia and Autumn Ariand." He replied. There were more sighs coming from the girls. Mdm Justifer snorted and went on.
"Then tell me, what made them so powerful that their names had to be written in history?"
"Spring was an earth type, and she was particularly powerful at that section. She could cause earthquakes to happen anytime, and plants even grew where she walked. Her power was called 'Mother Nature'," Winter answered monotonously, like knowing all that was common sense. He yawned and continued.
"As for Autumn, he was a powerful wind type, someone who could summon hurricanes, tornadoes, and even control the weather to his liking. His power was 'Raging Storms'." Mdm Justifer looked slightly impressed.
"Very good," Summer heard her mutter. Wow, she thought, glancing sideways at Winter, who was preoccupied in tweaking his metal outfit. He's smart. Summer hadn't even known any of that.
And that just shows how dumb I am, she added to herself. "So then, can anyone tell me why we don't see those two particular people anymore?" Mdm Justifer questioned. Murmuring broke out among the class.
"They got killed?" Someone tried.
"Maybe they ran away somewhere?" Another person said. Winter laughed suddenly. Silence fell as everyone stared in dumbfounded amazement at him, including Summer. His laugh was like music, a beautiful lullaby to her ears.
"You've got it all wrong," he chuckled. "They went missing. They were last sighted together eighteen years ago. The rumours said that they ran away, or were killed. Though I doubt that they're dead." he went on. Awestruck silence met his words.
"Looks like someone knows their history..." Mdm Justifer mused, clapping. Winter smiled slightly, and the whole class sighed with admiration, except for Summer and Glade, who had fallen asleep behind a book he had propped upright.
Summer was speechless. Winter was not smart. He was a genius. That was when the bell rang, signalling the end of History. The next period was the joint battle rounds, or Battlemania, with the other five classes in the 3's.
Battlemania was Summer's favourite session. It was a session that went on for the rest of the day, lasting three hours everyday. She jumped to her feet and walked towards the door along with everyone else, when she noticed that Winter and Glade, who had woken up at the sound of the bell, were discussing something quietly among each other.
