Chapter 2: Neighbors

I decided I wanted food so I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a shake I think it was vanilla.  I grabbed a straw from a drawer and sat on the counter top.  I suddenly heard a noise from the door I think it was the doorbell.  I jumped off the counter top to see who it is.  I opened the door to see a boy about my age. He had dark brown hair with a small quiff, he had gorgeous brown eyes, and a Greek shaped nose. He had a perfectly defined jawline and perfectly shaped lips. His thick glasses made his eyes pop in a beautiful way. He was wearing a black Fall Out Boy shirt, dark blue skinny jeans, and sneakers.

He held out his hand and said, "Hi, I'm River, River Jackstone, I'm your new neighbor.  I brought you some cookies that my mo-" I immediately closed the door in shock.

River, the man I was supposed to kill, is my neighbor.  Even worse he is hot!  My palms and forehead started to sweat. I then released it was rude to close the door so I opened it again.  He was walking away from my house.

"Hey! Wait!" I yelled.  He turned to me and hesitantly came back, "I'm so sorry about that!  I'm Erin Giane nice to meet you!" I shook his hand firmly and smiled. He smiled and handed me the cookies.  I hope he didn't feel my hand sweat. The cookies were chocolate chip. 

"Would you like to come in?" I said moving out of the way so he could walk in.

"Sure," he said walking in the house.

"Um.. You can sit in the living room... I'll be right back," I pointed to my living room and quickly ran into my room.

I rushed into my bathroom and wiped my hands on my pants. I leaned on the sink and looked at myself, my black/brown hair was falling out of my messy bun and my green eyes were bright.  I turned on the cold water in the sink and splashed my face.  I walked back into my room and looked around for a dagger.  I went through my drawers and found a whole display of knives and guns.  I only needed a dagger.  I stuck it in my boot and walked to the kitchen. I grabbed two glasses from a cabinet and grabbed some milk from the fridge. I hope it wasn't expired. I poured some milk into the cups and put the milk back in the fridge. I closed the fridge door and turned around. I jumped a little when I saw River sitting on the counter dipping a cookie in a glass of milk.

He noticed me jump and said, "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!"

"Um, it's alright," I said sitting on the counter with him.

He split the cookie in half and gave me some. I thanked him and dumped the cookie in the milk. He watched me, scanning my face, while I ate the cookie.

"It's really good!" I said, "Tell your mother I said thank you."

He nodded, "So you live here... alone?"

"Yes," I said looking down at the glass of milk.

"Where do you go to school?"

"JamesView."

"Same."

We sat on the counter for a while talking and asking questions. He is very nice. I don't understand why I need to kill him. I jumped off the counter and River did the same.

"I guess I'll leave now," he said keeping his eyes on me.

"Okay.. Umm... I guess I'll see you tomorrow at school." I said trying to avoid his eyes.

"Yea! Umm, do you have a car?"

"A what?"

He chuckled, "A car."

"Oh no."

"Okay I'll come by at 7:30 to pick you up." He grinned.

"Oh. Okay."

I walked him to the door and we said our goodbyes. I closed the door and smiled. I looked out the window and saw him running and jumping, screaming something I couldn't make out. My smile was still planted on my face. What are these feelings? They are strange my heart is pounding and my stomach feels sick, in a good way. I don't like these feelings.

I ran into my bathroom and looked at myself. A light pink tinted the sides of my cheeks. My lips curved making the sides of my eyes get wrinkles. I massaged my mouth and cheeks hoping it would get rid of the blush and the smile. It didn't. This was frustrating! He did something to me. He must have put something in the cookies or.. I don't know. I rushed out of the bathroom and sat on my bed. He has done something to me.
