"Jack, I can't do this." I whisper. He puts me down.
"I thought you wanted—"
"I do want you, Jack, but not like that. Not yet." I add. "Can we do something that doesn't involve me removing my clothes?" I ask while wrapping my arms around my stomach.
"We can cuddle." He suggests. I nod and go to lie down on the bed. Jack lies down on the bed behind me, wrapping his arms around me and whispering in my ear about how special I am and how I shouldn't be insecure or embarrassed about anything.
He also told me stories of embarrassing things he's done to try and take the severity out of the embarrassing things that happen to me on the daily.
I laughed and cooed.
I finally felt like I had a friend.
* * *
Over a few months Jack told everyone about us and how we were officially together. There were a few homophobic bumps in the road as well as skeptical Slytherin but most people's opinions were positive.
It was dinner time and I had just loaded up my plate with salad and a small amount of croutons before making my way to the additional table at the back of the great hall where the houses could sit, talk, mix and mingle freely, regardless of what color was on their robes.
I was going to go and sit down next to Jack, who was saving me a seat, when a Gryffindor girl with big curly blonde hair sits down next to him, getting obscenely close.
She looked like she was flirting with him. I froze and stared at them. She put her hand on his thigh before whispering in his ear.
She gets up and signals she'll be right back. Jack looks around. His eyes land on me. I hesitate and contemplate going and eating lunch with Moaning Myrtle like I used to do.
I swallow my pride and walk over to Jack, sitting down next to him.
I look down at my salad.
"Who was that girl?" I ask quietly.
"I don't know, she talked really slow and seemed to have a thing for calling me daddy and touching me." He replies, talking with his hands.
I put my hand on his thigh, mimicking what the girl did. He bites his bottom lip while staring at my hand. He leans over to kiss me deeply.
He whispers against my lips that he loves me.
"Baby, I could never replace you even if I tried. You're too beautiful for me to find anyone else that could even compare to you, did you know that?" He whispers.
He always did things like this; trying to help boost my self-esteem or reassure me that he wants me and only me.
I shake my head.
"Well, what about that girl—"
"She's already gone from my mind." He says.
"Now eat your dinner. Have some protein." He says while taking a chicken leg off of his plate and putting it on mine.
I lean against Jack and lazily begin to eat my dinner.
