Her secretary threw another CV on her desk. She received countless CVs a day from eager boys and girls seeking success. But there was one position left -there were two but she had to give it to a man her father had forced upon her to accept. Her secretary would ask her everyday who'd take that final place. She didn't tell her, but she had one person in mind. Elroy. He was different from the other boys who had lined up outside the office block to hand her their CVs. He had a different edge, a spark she liked. The business was not doing well in UK compared to France and her father was the type who would not hesitate to take her down if she did not meet expectations. She gave a phone call to her secretary who promptly entered.
"Has he arrived?" she took a quick glance at her clock 9 o'clock.
"He arrived fifteen minutes ago; should I let him in?"
"Please." She sat back and fixed her blazer, when he walked in he brought out his hand for a shake but she remembered his last shake and chose to wave instead. He took the seat in front of her and set his jacket aside. "Right, your uncle Ole has constantly bugged me about giving you the job, and truth is I don't have any space to bring anyone on-"
"You can bring me on, whatever my uncle has said I'd do more. I am the man, for the job a man you can count on."
"I see. Are you free today?"
"I am."
"Then come with me I'll give you a tour of the building. It's quite large to allow you wonder on your own." Their building was a lot different to the other real estate shops in London. Their building was designed as a hotel, where in the ground floor there were the estate agents, and on the forty stories above them were the marketers, financial advisors and executives. Her father had designed it this way to give them a luxurious edge, one she did not understand; but a balcony view over London in an executive office it did not bother her.
She stood up and Elroy joined her on her strides to the door, "On these floors are the executives, Dr. Charles Savvy is over there, the ex-founder of Crocc. properties, Martin McDonald's office is there leading economist of the London market." The took the lift, and she pressed G "those who are on the 30th floor are up-and-coming executives, on the 20th are new promoted Estate agents, the 10th are for those whom are considered hot prospects." They reached the ground floor and walked him past estate agents whose faces were fixed on computer screens, and hands planted on their ears with telephones. She smiled at his stunned expression on Elroy's face. "Don't worry this is not where you'll be, if you impress me that is."
"And how do I do that?"
"Take a seat here," she pulled out a chair for him "I want you to try and get a link, ask Harvey or Dan for any help at 3 I'll come back and I wish to know if you have a link, ok?"
"Ok." He replied in a weary voice.
The rest of the interns were looking over, they hardly got to see their CEO so when they saw her in front of them it seemed as if a star had fallen from the heavens. She noticed, it made her feel awkward which is why she had asked her father to provide her a private way out; and he did. Through the back, where she had her own parking spot far away from anyone else. She left him to it, and before they could come up to her for questions, or greetings she climbed up the steps and took her lift all the way up. Her father had called her the night before, wanting a chart on how the business was doing, he kept telling her that he wished for her brother to open up a new building on Canary Wharf but did not know if people knew about Dejor as well as he had hoped. She told him they weren't ready, and they weren't considered the top brand yet; and how could they her father had opened the building a year an half ago. Since then she had done well to keep the brand going, and had brought in 20,000 new customers but her had not considered that fact, but only looked to making enough for the Canary building.
