A week later I find myself in the bathroom together with Kelsey, preparing for a party she's dragging me to - with the support of our parents of course.
"You look gorgeous" she tells me and winks. Proudly she continues: "Half of it is my work, but I'd die for your eyes" she adds with a sigh.
"Shut up. Next to you I'll be ignored anyways." Not that I want the attention she always tends to get. "All this" I say and make a gesture including the make-up and dress, "is totally not necessary."
"You shut up, darling. It is necessary! You're supposed to have fun! And especially because of me you'll be in the middle of everyone's attention. After you came along the last time I always got requests to bring you again."
I groan. These superficial kids. I don't bother to reply to my sister. Instead I check my outfit one last time – and admit to myself that even though it's way too much, it looks good – and then leave the room. Kelsey follows me giggling.
"You should get used to it. It's only natural." I ignore it, grab the car keys and say my farewells. Mom waves after us smiling brightly.

The party turns out to be thrown by a good friend of my sister. I actually know her quite well and she's happy to see me. I wonder why Kelsey didn't tell me about her being the host.
Well, maybe she did and I just didn't listen. Not that she would bother. Anyway, I'm still not too excited. Hannah – that's her name – is the only one I know next to Kelsey, which makes me get bored within thirty minutes. I'm not that much of a talker and the topics of the people around me aren't really interesting either. Kelsey disappeared already after five minutes of attempting to introduce me to some "friends".
A guy named Jackson – his face seems familiar so I guess he's some kind of ex-boyfriend-slash-lover of my sister – puts his arms around my waist just now and laughs about something someone must've that. He shows his white teeth and pulls me tighter. "She's cute, isn't she?"
My eyes widen. They've talked about me? "Excuse me?" I whisper under my breath. His gaze meets mine and he smiles brightly.
The people around us laugh. I notice that they're all hundred percent male and try to force a smile. An uncomfortable feeling creeps up on me. Where are the girls at this party?
Usually I'm good at adjusting and fitting in other people's expectations, but this goes out of order. The music is too loud and not my style at all, the men talk and laugh about things which are rather disgusting than funny and surely they've all drank a lot already. That must be the reason why they are able to enjoy the music while my ears feel like they're going to burst.
However, I wouldn't dare to complain openly. First of all, because I'm not that kind of person and secondly, because I can't tell how these drunk guys would react. But just let this be said: I want to go home. As soon as possible.
That's why I need to find Kelsey, quickly. I could just text her, but she has that habit of not checking her phone at parties until she's in a sober state the next morning. While taking a look around I notice several things, for instance people – I finally found some girls as well, wow – dancing in an explicit way to the still shitty music, a table full of foods and drinks and ... him.
Jisung. What the heck is he doing here?
I groan silently, but Jackson who is still standing next to me - and way too close on top of that - must've heard it.
"What's wrong, babe?"
Babe? Is he serious? It's not like we know each other, so what's with that nickname?
