As teenagers, we struggle to find good friends. And I'm not talking about that one person who agrees with you on everything or that who person smiles and nods along.

Everyone is looking for that type of friend that understands you, accepts you for who you are and loves you even with all your faults. A person who would end up being the reason for us to still hold on to life, when everything becomes all messed up and screwed. Someone who would stick by your side, despite everything.

But this is totally different when you're in high school.

When all the other people and classmates you're used to being around with, just disappear, leaving you with people you're not used to- acquaintances, who might as well just be strangers- it hurts.

It hurts because not only do they leave you with people who don't know you, they leave you with a slap to reality...

"Did you understand anything she just said?"Asked Samantha, my other best friend, snapping me out of my daydream.

"....What...?" I answered in a small voice, not really concentrating on her as I was still wondering how the biology teacher could manage so much drawing and writing in a couple of minutes.

I shook my head slightly and looked directly above the door, where the class clock was hung.

10 AM.

"Break time already?" I asked in surprise.

Sam sighed and shook her head, the same way Maya did that morning.

The same way they both shook their heads and sighed at me since the beginning of the year.

That action seemed to scream that I was a hopeless case and could not be fixed...

But did that mean I was broken?

I started to feel a headache clawing up its way to my head and realized that I had to stay back and copy everything I missed.

Or well, that was my excuse.

"We're ready." Maya called out to me, where both she and Sam were waiting for me at the door, with sandwiches, snacks and money in hand.

I sighed heavily and pulled a face, gesturing to the board. "You think I can finish all this in just five minutes?"

"C'mon, we've been waiting for ten minutes; the break won't wait for us, you know!" Maya shot back, trying to stay as calm as possible.

"No one asked you to wait." I said, trying to sound reasonable and calm, but somehow managed to sound sarcastic. Maya sighed and nodded.

"Fine, were sitting in the grounds." She said, in a calmer tone. "Try finishing it fast, you idiot."

Sam laughed at that and I just smiled and nodded. They then turned around and walked out of the classroom, talking and laughing.

Ten minutes later, I was done with my notes.

I was impressed by my speed because I didn't mean to finish it that fast, I just didn't want to go down and sit with Sam and Maya.

I took out my lunch, which happened to be a cheese sandwich and some nuts – the usual – and brought out my novel. I managed to find a comfy position leaning against the wall and started eating as I read.

Fifteen more minutes later, the bell rang, announcing the next period.
