Bad Sox

The tears wouldn't stop. It was as if the past eight years off stress and hardship had bubbled over into this never ending stream. When my body shaking sobs finally calmed down to small hiccuping whines I cuddled into the large mass beneath me. As I took stock of my surroundings I realized I was once again cuddled up into Beta Soren's arms. This time his embrace was holding me tight. Keeping me sheltered as my world crumbled around me.

"Nicky?" Glancing around my room I realized I had forgotten my brother. I had left my small defenseless Nicky in the hands of an alpha wolf.

I jumped up from Soren's lap getting tangled up in my own feet and crashing to the floor. Looking up I met confused brown eyes. His stoic face morphed into a gentle wolfie grin at my less than graceful landing. Calming myself down I took a deep breath.

"Where's Nicky?"

"With Alpha Thrace. They're packing."

I began to shake with my fear. Was he even now killing my sweet boy? What was Nicky being subjected to while I was finding comfort in our enemies embrace? I was a horrible sister. A failure at being a good parent. My selfish breakdown had left him in danger and now I just sat here too stunned to move.

"Please Beta Soren," I begged. "Please don't let him kill Nicky. I'll do anything you want. I'll be however you want me to be. Just let Nicky live." It was true. I would act however this traditional pack wanted me to to save my brothers life. No more messing with them. No more being annoying just for fun. I would be the perfect little she wolf. Follow orders. Be quite and submissive.

"Elle, look at me." Soren held my chin as he studied my face. "Is that why your afraid of us? You think we would kill your brother?"

"Everyone else wanted to." It was as simple as that. Of course they would kill him. No one else thought he should live. There was no way that these traditional males would want a damaged pup in their midst.

"We don't kill pups."

Soren acted as if his short reply explained everything. As if with four little words all my fears should resolve. Ignoring my kneeling form he glanced around my bedroom. Getting up he started opening my dresser drawers and throwing things out. I squealed in embarrassment as he started rifling through my underwear drawer only to pull out my black lace bra.

"What is this?" He held the bra up as he turned it around looking at it from all angles. Peering through the thin material he frowned. "How does this even keep you warm?"

The sight of my bra floating to the ground as he threw it over his shoulder drew me from my shock. Jumping up I rushed over and slammed the drawer shut before he could pull out more personal clothing.

"Bad Socks." I scolded as he tried to pull open the drawer again. "No. Why don't you go grab Alpha Thrace while I get our stuff packed. You can have a snack or something. Damn. I need to clean out the fridge before we leave."

Soren gave my dresser drawers one last considering look before walking to the door.

"Remember Elle, necessities only. If you can live without it leave it behind."

When I was done packing I set both our bags by the door then joined the males in the kitchen. All three were sitting around the table in their hybrid forms shoveling in leftovers straight from the storage containers. Nicky was giggling as the two males talked to him in between bites. Opening the fridge, I grabbed a cooler from the pantry and began throwing in anything that would spoil.

"What are you doing?"

Freezing at Alpha Thrace's gruff question I dropped the bag of plums I had been holding. In my heart I knew that Sox was not lying. That he believed  his Alpha would not kill pups. But my head and experiences were warring inside me telling me that they were just waiting. That when I had relaxed they would strike. I hesitantly turned towards the table.
