Watermarks suck royally. YES PIC COLLAGE WE KNOW YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL BUT THE WHOLE WORLD DOESN'T WANT TO KNOW.
This quote and the next one are (is?) from a book I'm reading for English, The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. The story has almost nothing to do with wings just fyi.
Genre: Historical Fiction, 1800s, Charleston, South Carolina; slavery a strong establishment.
Main Characters: Sarah Grimke, Angelina Grimke, Handful "Hetty" Grimke.
Format: First Person narrative, chapters not numbered or named, but every other, the perspective changes between Sarah and Handful.
Quick Summary: Sarah, the white, ginger-haired girl on the successful side of slavery, is extremely pro-abolition and pro-women's rights. Hetty is a black slave given to Sarah on her eleventh birthday, facing many challenges as a result of her situation. Together, they become friends, and as they grow up and apart, they learn to follow their dreams, however much society restricts everything they stand for. ***Summary written BY ME and go ahead and copy/paste but tell your friends where you got the awesome summary. JK you can't copy anyway ;)
Recommendation: Great book, reader discretion advised, age recommendation- mature thirteen-year-olds and up.
