My curiosity finally overflowed. I thought to my self "I'll find out sooner, or later."

The next day I did. I decided to visit some friends while doing my job in town, when I had some spare time.

I asked them "What has happened around here?" They looked at one another with sad faces and began to speak "Didn't you hear? They hung Grandpa Jones on a old oak tree."

I couldn't believe my ears. My body began to go into shock and I fell to my knees. I kept on thinking "Why did they kill him!" This mad me so angry at the white people. I decided from then on, I would never serve a white person. Ever!

I wanted to, every time I passed a white person that day. To strangle them, but I remembered that God doesn't want us to kill the innocent. He doesn't want us to kill at all. But I knew that God would allow us to fight the evil ones, and I knew who that was.

I was so fed up the rest of the day, that I didn't remember anything. Especially the important thing that I did the last day, that I killed the mayor.

I realized that there was something else that was panicky in our town. White people were frantically moving out of the way of black people. They must have thought we had some contagious killing disease. The town was in distress. The day was a good, but sad day for the people in Atlanta. Grandpa Jones died, but the KKK was being exterminated.
