(Isobel pov)
They shifted him around on the ground till they got the bag slipped entirely over his body. Then they tied the open end at his feet with a rope, knotting it tight and wrapping its ends up and around the rest of him, pinning him inside the bag, cinching another knot just above his head. The bag went taut; then his head was pulled up. Girls holding either end of the rope. They were going to drag him along. Thomas started squirming even though he should know what it'd get him.
"Teresa! Don't do this to me!"
Her fist hit him right in the stomach- I'm assuming- making him howl. He appeared to try to double over, and all I could feel was Newt tensing up.
"Since you obviously don't care Bout yourself," Teresa said, "talk again and we'll start shooting your friends. That sound good to you?"
Thomas didn't respond. I felt the urge to say something, anything.
"You can't do this!" I called.
"What?" Teresa snapped, head turning in my direction. "Did you not hear what I said to him? And it goes for you too, any of his friends talk-"
"I'm not his friend though." I stated smartly.
"Excuse me?" Teresa's eyes darkened.
"I'm not his friend. Therefore you can't shoot me. The rule only applies to his friends, so-" A sharp pain in my right shoulder prevented me from finishing. I looked over to it and saw an arrow wedged in, just above my collar bone. I pulled it out, without even wincing and tossed it to the ground. "Nasty bitch, think that's gonna-" I felt myself daze a bit and stumbled against Newt.
"Isobel," he warned, whispering in my ear.
I saw blood seeping out and ignored it, standing my ground.
"I meant what I said!" Teresa yelled at us. "There won't be a warning. Follow us and the arrows start flying even more."
She knelt beside Thomas in the dirt. Then she grabbed him through the material of the bag, put her head against his, her mouth close to where his ear would've been. She started whispering, so faintly I couldn't hear.
"What're you saying to him?" One of the girls holding the rope asked.
"I'm letting him know just how much I'm enjoying this. How much I'm enjoying my revenge. Do you mind?"
She sounded so arrogant. I couldn't possibly understand what he ever saw in her. She must've started going crazy really quickly.
"Well," the other girl responded. "Glad you're having so much fun. But we need to hurry."
"I know," Teresa said. She gripped the sides of Thomas' head even harder, squeezed and shook it. Then she pressed her mouth against the rough material, pushing on his ear, whispering softly again.
She released him and stood back up. "Okay let's get out of here. Make sure you hit as many rocks as you can on the way."
His captors started walking, dragging him along behind them. Teresa walked right beside him as they pulled his body along.
Then Minho started yelling. Between garbled unflattering names he said "We'll find you when the time is right! And we'll bring weapons!"
Teresa slammed her fist into Thomas again, shutting Minho up.
And across the desert they went...
"Isobel." A voice broke through.
"What?" I asked impatiently.
"Isobel, you need help." Newt said.
"No I don't I'm fine." I lied glancing over at my wound.
He sat me down. "Isobel." He hesitated, then pulled his jacket off and ripped his shirt over his head. I couldn't help but look and blush when he caught me and chuckled. I looked down and fiddled with my thumbs.
"You'll need to uh-" understanding what he was getting at, I pulled my sleeve down, careful to make sure I was fully covered up.
He ripped a bit of his shirt off, putting it to the side and used the rest to apply pressure and mop up some of the blood. Once satisfied, he used the saved bit as a bandage and tied it off neatly in a knot.
"Thank you." I muttered as I fixed my clothes back to normal.
"It's okay. Are you okay?"
"Me? Yeah, I'm fine. I can barely feel it. What about you? Don't worry about Tommy. I'm sure he'll be fine."
"Do you really feel that way?" He asked, his chocolate brown eyes boring into mine.
"Like what?" I asked naively.
"That you're not our friend."
"Well it's just you've all known each other for a while. I'm just a newcomer that's helping you get somewhere, and will probably get ditched after. I don't mean anything to them."
"You do. You underestimate their love for you. Besides, you've got me, and that's all you need. I don't want any of those guys chasing after you. I've got enough bloody problems without competition."
"You might win." I smirked.
"I know I would, but I don't need that kind of pressure." He chuckled then leaned in for a kiss.
Just as our lips were about to touch, Minho's figure came into sight.
"C'mon love birds, we gotta plan to make."
A/N: And here is the long awaited update! (Sorry it's terrible) *falls to the floor in tears* I'm sooooo sorry! Please forgive me. It's just.... Life. It really gets in the way.
